(March 3, 2008) – A Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewman (SWCC) assigned to Special Boat Team 20 pulls his rip cord to deploy his parachute during a free-fall jump from an Air Force C-130. A free-fall jump can begin at an altitude of nearly 12,500 feet, after which the jumper travels at a rate of nearly 1,000 feet every six seconds before deploying his parachute. SWCCs are U.S. Special Operations Command’s masters of maritime special operations, and employ their unique training, equipment, and tactics in missions worldwide.
