The camera uses no batteries and has a simple wind-up mechanism motor that despite being more than 70 years old(!) - still works beautifully.

This year I had an amazing time reconnecting with many awesome people at Keystone Conference. Going as a second year attendee, I went with my very good friend Caela to share Keystone with another West Coast Girl. Thank you Keystone for being so inspirational and a place where I can share that Pride with others ️⚧️

So after my shopping trip, I picked up my registration packet and dropped my goods off back at the room. It had started to warm up, so I pulled off the tights, and put on my sandals.

Ramsay Keystone Bridge

Millions of tons of mining and logging materials have crossed the Black River on this stone arch bridge. Yet it’s no surprise that the Ramsay Keystone Bridge remains structurally sound. After all, it was built in 1891 — a newcomer compared to Roman stone arch bridges that have stood for 2,000 years.

The “keystone” refers to the last — and most important — stone added to the arch, the one at the top that holds the whole structure in place without mortar. The downward force on the arch spreads from the keystone to all the other stones. A wooden frame supports the arch during construction until the keystone is placed.

It isn’t know why the Chicago & North Western Railroad choose to build this bridge of stone so late in the 19th Century, but a bridge iron worker and railroad historian notes that this structure is well suited to the type of rock underlying it. The bridge, which cost $48,322 to build, consists of a series of arches, each with a keystone to lock it in place. The f-foot-thick blocks are limestone from Kaukauna, Wisconsin. The bridge is 45 feet long, 44 feet wide, and 57 feet high.

Behind the Keystone Bridge is an early State Trunk Line concrete bridge design from an era when it connected to US-2, when it passed through Ramsay.
