...At this year's Keystone Conference! Jamie, Jenee, Annie, Coleen, Katie & Kacey! (forgive me, but I may have misnamed Katie- if I have, I hope someone corrects me!) had our pic taken as we were waiting to board the bus for the Vanity Club dinner where I got pinned as VC member number 629!

Jenny North has become a dear friend over the short time that I have known her. We only really get to see each other at Keystone, but talking to her feels like talking to my BFF. I was happy to get a few pictures with her at the Gala.

The Keystone Theatre started off life in 1886 as the Hale's Opera House, built by Elias W. Hale. It is located in Towanda, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Throughout its history, the theater has undergone changes in purpose, ownership, condition and more recently in 1988, the Bradford County Regional Arts Council (BCRAC), with the help of supporters, began an extensive restoration project which brought new life to the Keystone Theatre. Today the theatre is a beautiful testament to the spirit of small town cooperation and determination and the power of restoration.

Keystone Crescent, Kings Cross, London. The area around KIngs Cross has come-up in the world over recent decades, not just the redeveloped land at Granary and Pancras Squares but the older streets lined with Victorian terraces. Keystone Crescent is a quiet cobbled street immediately off the bustling Caledonian Road. The terraces were build circa 1845, and are grade 2 listed.

I always am impressed when video games can recreate real world areas with a touch of fantasy. I've started playing Red Dead Redemption 2 recently, and the experience of riding through the map and seeing different types of American scenery fly by reminds me of places I have traveled to and seen.
One of the latest miracles of digital art is Studio 346's Century of Steam, an in-development train simulator game which I have met several of the developers for. To say I am excited for the game to say the least is an understatement; and lately they have been sharing off images and video of a map they're developing called "Keystone."
The inspiration of the East Broad Top Railroad and the area surrounding the Aughwick Creek is quickly obvious in all the images of Keystone released so far; and it amazed me that after months of seeing the video game replica online; that to stand here in the real place I had a sense of deja-vu. I've had similar experiences in New York City (after playing a lot of Spider-Man 2) and in London (Assassins Creed Syndicate) where seeing the digital version acclamated my mind to the real place. Even if Keystone is not a 1:1 recreation of the real area, I have to praise the game creators for clearly capturing the feeling of being here in the flesh.
There's an art to trying to convey a place in a chosen medium, be it photography, landscape painting, or digital game creation; and I have to praise those who can pull it off.

I went to the Keystone conference this year. Although the conference itself was a blast, my trip to Harrisburg was not fun. It snowed the entire time and there were lots of accidents on the roads. Fortunately, I made it to the hotel safely, got an early check-in for my room. and then went about the difficult process of making myself pretty. Here I am about to leave my room and join the conference. It's hard to tell from this picture, but my tights are pinstriped.
