I have been visiting the Keystone ferry landing in Coupeville on Whidbey Island, looking to add species to my ebird checklists.
Most recently I've observed the Brandt's and Pelagic cormorant, Marbled murrelet, Rhinoceros auklet, Common murre, Pigeon guillemot, and Western grebe. In two months of visits this is the only decent exposure I've made of the old dock opposite the ferry, renowned for its regular gulp of sunning and swimming cormorants.
I went so far as to purchase a round trip walk-on ticket to Port Townsend and back, just for the off chance of seeing a Tufted puffin. No luck on the puffin front, but it was a stunning sunset sailing none the less, last of the summer schedule.

A wonderful finale to the conference. Beautiful women in gorgeous gowns and cocktail dresses, the air infused with perfume, and an overall sense of excitement and happiness.
It was wonderful to meet a few Flickr friends in person for the first time, though I regret not having had the chance to meet more - we were so many ships passing in the night.

Amtrak AEM7 #938 pushes on the rear of a Keystone Corridor train near Gap, PA. The venerable AEM7 has less than a year of service before retirement at this point as the replacements have already begun to arrive in the form of the ACS-64 manufactured by Siemens.

I am not bereft
or overly grieving
here I stand
I did not wish for things to burn down around me
here I stand
The wind and the weather will have their way with me
but I am not lonely
here I stand
Keystone Cedars here in Cedar Rapids has a lily pond near the entrance. I was able to come up with a nice composition aided by a simple color scheme.

I'm ready for a dinner date with my now real-life friends at the wonderful Keystone Conference in Harrisburg PA. Should I wear the boots or my new patent leather heels which I got at their clothing exchange? What do you think?.
Meeting my sweet friend Sophia in the hotel lobby after we returned from dinner on Friday night. She went with a group of my other girlfriends to a swanky place in Hershey and I just got back from the Vanity Club gathering in Harrisburg with my sorority sisters. Keystone is a sensory overload for me because I see a huge number of long-time girlfriends from all over the country AT THE SAME TIME. Everywhere I look I see another woman I want to talk to and hug ! Keystone is a blur of joyful reunions and meaningful moments. I can't wait to get there in March, 2022.
