A mother Gentoo keeps her chicks warm and is ready to feed them by regurgitating into their mouths whenever they are ready - - seems like a disgusting way to eat but it ensures the little ones don't choke.

One day, rather one night, the magic happened. She was with her diary, those where she keeps secrets of the soul and some other things. The lantern light on the table made her a beautiful and immaculate image. Maybe the light towards his contribution, so that his skin and his hair took a dreamy tone. His green eyes seemed to reflect his thoughts. Me, just try to light a cigarette. Without another idea, but not being a spectator of such an intimate moment. She submerged in one of his pages, probably full of memories, stories ... they say that newspapers are written so that secrets are only shared by them, the pages of the agenda. But that night she broke that tradition. I will never understand why I was chosen for such an act of trust. She is sure that the secrets, the one that I give to the agenda and now to me, will continue to be, in any case, our secrets.

Sorry everyone for not putting any posts up. Things have not been going well. First with Covid, (Non of my family caught it). Then my PC crashed and buried, then i got Cancer and still fighting it.. I have 12 more radiation treatments left. Plus another year of shots every 3 months and pill's. But as of this past Friday my Dr. said that everything is looking Good and everything is going with the, the best news is the Cancer never spread. A neighbor of mine keeps this bike in front of her fence all year. Some years she puts a basket of flowers on the front fender and sometimes not. Even without the basket it was looking especially good this year.

variable, and invariable.

they go up and down on the beach,

they crash on the rocks.

In appearance they are uniform

in its movement,

but diversity reigns

Do I ever echo her sentiment! Everyday is a bad hair day. Who transported Michigan to the tropics? Hate it...but September is around the corner so maybe a reprieve soon. Meantime, I just wear my straw cowboy hat...:-)))

Usually, Doc keeps a small portion of our trail cleared, so that he can reach our outbuildings. This year mother nature decided to deliver us an abundance of snow, and it has been impossible to keep up with it. Now I feel like our cabin is a little self-sufficient spaceship - floating in a sea of white.

Our large 5th wheel can be seen to the far right of this photo, and it is buried until spring. Doc did manage to make a path to our first Shelter Logic outbuilding that housed our snowblower, but the second Shelter Logic structure will not see us until the snow melts. (It is off in the distance to the right.) Luckily, we have a large workshop/storage building quite near our cabin for things we use more frequently.

This winter has been a challenge, but Doc and I would never think of living anywhere else.

She keeps her short sword in her hands as she strides through the forest. A drowse warrior can't be too careful, after all. The first thing she notices is the noises ... the lack of noises. A strange hush pervades this place. She is not afraid, though. She knows the powers that dwell here ... for they are what she seeks. Assistance from these powers, to help save her people. To rid the world of an evil that will, eventually, invade even this sacred forest.

As I've driven to and from work down the back country lanes I've noticed just how many dandelion clocks there are right now. And I wondered how I could make something interesting out of them.

Fortunately I may have some genes of a distant genius, as well as his name, and it struck me I could make a Newton's Cradle …...you know those suspended steel balls, and you pull back one and let it swing and the thing goes clack, clack, clack, back and forth for ages. It keeps some people amused: normally bored executives.

Anyhow, here is my less irritating silent version rustled up quickly on a baking tray.

For the monumental fabric And the World Keeps Turning, Okore was inspired by the brick facades common in Bruges and the lace technique. The textile installation accentuates the shape of the tower, a remnant of the late Middle Ages where gunpowder was stored. The textile sculpture is made up of a succession of amorphous forms in weather-resistant PVC which temporarily alters the appearance of the tower. Okore's installation is a metaphor for how time creeps in, keeps spinning and literally moves like a circle, just like the sun.

Who's to say

What's impossible

Well they forgot

This world keeps spinning

And with each new day

I can feel a change in everything

And as the surface breaks reflections fade

But in some ways they remain the same

And as my mind begins to spread its wings

There's no stopping curiosity

I want to turn the whole thing upside down

I'll find the things they say just can't be found

I'll share this love I find with everyone

We'll sing and dance to Mother Nature's songs

I don't want this feeling to go away

Our state keeps these old armory bunkers clean, but there are still people who think they are Kilroy. I have only tried to capture this sense of history, where we stored the ammunition for those 16" cannons that were a hundred feet above you on the cliff.

Over an extended weekend we did a 2000 miles roadtrip from California to Utah and back, destination badlands near Hanksville. Highway 24 runs close to the Fremont River. Life needs water, in the badlands trees can grow only nearby the river. Mountains are eroded over thousands of years, showing their bare beauty.

Just as a sentinel keeps watch over its domain, trees stand sentinel over the land, their branches reaching towards the sky like outstretched arms, embracing the world around them bridging the earthly and the ethereal.

These silent guardians stand witness to the passage of time, offering shade and shelter to all who seek them.

....keeps the doctor away ;-)

I only left the house because the van needed a run. Our mechanic keeps telling us there’s nothing these old high milers love more than a long drive to keep them ready and raring to go. But at half past two on a grey December afternoon, deep in the heart of Twixmas, a quick blast down the A30 would have to do. Loggan’s Roundabout and back. I had plenty of stuff to be getting on with at home, and I do like a good black and white film during the festive period. More out of habit than anything else, I threw the camera and a couple of lenses in the bag and put them in the cab. Just in case I decided to stay out for a bit.

It was inevitable really. Even though the ceiling outside the van was drearily grey and lifeless, I really needed to shake off the Christmas lethargy. The fact that two consecutive Wednesdays had fallen on bank holidays meant there was no football to burn off the twin cheese and chocolate overdoses, so an energetic hike across the dunes seemed like an idea. When I arrived at the car park, it quickly became clear that I wasn’t the only one who felt the need to kick away the cobwebs and get some fresh air. There were far more cars than you usually see here on a Monday afternoon. But even so, you can easily find space up on the dunes, and so I set off towards the west, grabbing the bag and the tripod. Even if the contents stayed unused, the extra weight wouldn’t hurt. By now I’d eaten an awful lot of cheese and we had started on the second giant Toblerone. Friday football remained unaffected by the seasonal calendar this time around, but one game a week really wasn’t enough to tackle the torrent of cholesterol that was swirling around my insides by the day before New Year’s Eve.

It’s no secret that the middle of winter is my favourite time here. Isn’t it great that a hobby such as this makes the darkest months something to be enjoyed rather than feared? The short daylight hours come with their challenges, but when I do go out with the camera I know I’m going to be home at a sensible hour, even if I’ve been down to the furthest reaches of Land’s End or Cape Cornwall and Botallack. The Towans of Gwithian are comfortably under half an hour away and the big council car park (at least for now) remains free to users from November to March. It’s the perfect place to watch the evening set in over the Penwith hills to the west. Even when the light isn’t doing much. And the sky had been pretty well featureless as I marched across the rolling greens and yellows, following the smaller footpaths where I could be more or less alone with my thoughts as I went. But now, as so often happens, an envelope of light opened up through the greys and started to gently glow, just in the right place. I took a few shots from one of the higher dunes and continued my walk. Maybe I’d end up down on the beach, I wasn’t sure. Further along my route, I came to the point where the sands suddenly open up in front of the viewer, and found a place near the cliff edge in which I’ve planted the tripod more than once in the past. I was surprised by just how many people were down there on the beach, one or two of them braving the ocean, while a kite surfer charged across the waves. For now I wouldn’t head down to the sand. I was enjoying watching the world from here. I set up the tripod.

Just in time as it turned out. Within moments, the sun dropped into the glowing envelope to set the sea on fire, clouds of spray growing into a hazy golden mist that hovered over the water and lit up the centre of my frame while everything around it disappeared into secretive shadows. Dozens of silhouettes continued to stroll purposefully along the sand, many of them picked out by the soft rays that reached down and touched them through the gap in the doom laden clouds. A host of Christmas hangovers, walking off the cheese and Toblerones. The magic lasted for no more than two or three minutes, and then the window in the sky closed for the evening. To think that all I was going to do was to whizz down to the big roundabout and back. Blink and you so easily miss these moments.

I did make it down to the beach afterwards, but only so I could be next to the sea for a while before clambering back up onto the dunes. Chased by a dusk lit shower I made a point of climbing all of the tallest dunes on the way back to the van, even running over a couple of them, just for the sake of compensating for the football games I was missing this Christmas. Hopefully by the time we get back to business as usual, I won’t pass out in a pile of cheese within five minutes of kick off.

A coffee a day, keeps the Grumpy away!

...keeps the doctor away. ;-)

Over several days I watched as some blackbirds ate the last apples that the autumn wind had not yet shaken from the tree. They do this very cleverly by balancing on a branch and then picking up the apple very quickly and specifically. They ate about a whole apple every day and after a few days all the apples were eaten up.

For Crazy Tuesday and the theme: "Fruits in Black and White".

...both the critter and the food!

On this day, most of the pond was still covered in ice, but it was beginning to thaw around the edges ... enough so that the beavers were able to start retrieving branches they'd harvested in the fall, but that had been stuck in the ice over the winter. This beaver surprised me by bursting through from under the ice right in front of me to wrestle this branch from where it had been frozen. I had to zoom out to get this shot. S/he nibbled the branch for a minute or two and then swam away under the ice with it.
