When you drive through southern Alberta, visitors can see majestic wind turbines throughout the district. These wind turbines power hundreds of homes and businesses. Sailboat design inspired the first windmill, but modern wind technology is inspired by aerospace design.

This sunset photo was a continuation of the first... about 15 minutes later as we got to Baker's Narrows.

This is the point where I stood for the previous pictures.... I find the scenery in this area just simply breath-taking!

The blacksmith was one of the many skilled labourers who worked at Lower Fort Garry. Others included boat builders, carpenters, coopers, wheelwrights, and masons.

On Random Walks

The installation On Random Walks revolves around the phenomenon of knots in vibrated granular chains and examines how knots contribute to the understanding of space and movement. In physics, granular chains are used as a model to study the behaviour of string-like objects such as DNA, RNA or polymer macromolecules that often become entangled.

An array of brass plates is set into vibration at infrasonic frequencies, diffused by sub woofers. A bead chain is placed in the center of each plate. Excited by very low, inaudible oscillations they start to move in unpredictable ways, which leads at times to spontaneous knot formations in varying complexity as well as their instantaneous dissolution. The bouncing strings in turn slightly strike the brass plates and create a pulsating field that constantly shifts by time, by the visitors walk through it and the change of one’s perspective.

`I want a clean cup,' interrupted the Hatter: `let's all move one place on.'

He moved on as he spoke, and the Dormouse followed him: the March Hare moved into the Dormouse's place, and Alice rather unwillingly took the place of the March Hare. The Hatter was the only one who got any advantage from the change: and Alice was a good deal worse off than before, as the March Hare had just upset the milk-jug into his plate.

Designed in the 1930s as an advance military trainer, the Yale is often mistaken for the better known Havard, which it preceded. The fact that it has less power and lacked refinement such as retractable landing gear probably limited its production.

Climbing up the Trollstigen path was not a real problem for our 1993 VW T4 Campervan Saugdiesel with 78 horses. It just ran up like a beast. Stunning view from the bridge in between the path with a waterfall behind.

Taken during our quick exit of the canyon.

Painting the roses red

We're painting the roses red

We dare not stop

Or waste a drop

So let the paint be spread

We're painting the roses red

We're painting the roses red

Oh, painting the roses red

And many a tear we shed

Because we know

They'll cease to grow

In fact, they'll soon be dead

And yet we go ahead

Painting the roses red

Painting the roses red

We're painting the roses red

Oh, pardon me

But Mister Three

Why must you paint them red?

Huh? Oh! Well, the fact is, Miss

We planted the white roses by mistake

And...

The Queen she likes 'em red

If she saw white instead

She'd raise a fuss

And each of us

Would quickly lose his head

[Alice:Goodness!]

Since this is the part we dread

We're painting the roses red

[Alice:Oh, Dear! Then let me help you]

Painting the roses red

We're painting the roses red

Don't tell the Queen what you have seen

Or say that's what we said

But we're painting the roses red

Yes, painting the roses red

Not pink

Not green

Not aquamarine

We're painting the roses red!

HBC posts usually had a dwelling for the officers, or business executives, of the Company. The Big House at Lower Fort Garry is one of the more elegant examples of such a house, and is the oldest building on site.
