The chapel was erected in 1608 by Captain Thierry Le Jeune, Lord of La Baillerie and Brabant officer of the Archduke Albert, in order to thank the Virgin for having protected him from death during the Eighty Years' War caused by the revolt of the Northern Netherlands (United Provinces) against the Kingdom of Spain.

Just tinkering around with the double exposure setting on my camera whilst out for my lockdown walk.
A gorgeous female orange-tip yesterday afternoon. She took a brief rest in the afternoon sunshine before fluttering off again. She was also laying eggs. So interesting to watch 🌿
Scientific Name:
Anthocharis cardamines
Family: Pieridae
Location: Dorset
Orange-tip butterflies can be seen fluttering along hedge rows, gardens, meadows, woodland glades, and along river banks.
I'm still not seeing very many butterflies ~ where are they 😔
Have a beautiful day & keep exploring.

After plenty of darting around Luka showing signs of slowing down....after all life as a Leopard Cub is tiring work!
After a considerable amount of time waiting, Luka emerged from behind the rock and plonked himself in full view of everyone. Quite content, sat peacefully staring at us.
An inspirational and typically British piece of street art that was located opposite the National Gallery just down from Leicester Square in the summer by artist Nathan Bowen.

Moraine Lake at sunset
1.13.18 - Almost 12 years after I took this photo it's still my most popular on Flickr. I decided finally today to replace the old 700 pixel photo (lol) with something more attuned to today's display technology!
Update: Since this is my most popular photo, many people have asked me if I photoshopped the hell out of it or how I got the colors so vibrant and captured the range of exposures here. For one - I used a circular polarizer that allowed me to keep the shutter open longer - which obviously saturates the photo, and really added to the reflection you see in the lake. The lake really is that color, mostly from the amount of glacial silt that is suspended in the lake. I used a very light graduated neutral density filter for the top part of the image to keep the range intact, but the light on the mountains really looked that beautiful and soft.
As for photoshop, I added a slight amout of contrast, while just barely lighting up the darker elements.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments.
This September Kay and I visited central Utah. We spent a lot of time at Bryce Canyon National Park. My favorite time to observe the canyons was just moments after the sun peaked over the horizon and lit up the hoodoos.
Orange & Blues ~ sunset on the Jurassic Coast
Absolutely loved trying something a little different for me, and im very chuffed with the outcome

Playing around with my Sigma 105mm Macro at slightly longer focal distances and in darker situations
A quick capture of one of the Pest tram's coming at me at eye level whilst walking underneath. An angle that is not always available through safe means but an interesting one none the less.
My first attempt at macro flower photography! Needless to say I have somewhat tried to avoid flowers as they are very much the norm and I like to do things a little differently. However fair play to those that do....getting the focus isn't easy!
