I finally got to frame the photo I won in a giveaway back in the summer. I want to paint the frame white but it will have to wait until I have more time.
Done for January Challenge at Interior Styling. Any feedback is welcome :)
These captivating bald cypress (Taxodium distichum) look prehistoric and are native to the southeastern states. Makes me wonder how this family was transplanted here to the Niles Canyon district of Fremont. These trees are usually knee deep in water, but the drought has taken a toll on this and other natural habitat across the state of California.
As the colors in the sky and in the snowy landscape became more and more beautiful, I still had not found a foreground motif and so I quickly decided me for this frozen puddle and a row of trees in the background. With the golden side of a reflector, I tried to emphasize the blades of grass a bit more. Panoramic shot.

Als die Farben im Himmel und in der verschneiten Landschaft immer schöner wurden hatte ich noch immer keinen Vordergrund gefunden und so entschied mich schnell für diese gefrorene Pfütze und die Baumreihe im Hintergrund. Mit der goldenen Seite eines Reflektors versuchte ich die Grashalme noch etwas zu betonen. Panoramaaufnahme.
On top of visiting NYC to record the April Film Photography Podcast, Lauren and I took a few days to hang out in the city, and take some fun pictures. This included a late night "session" in Times Square. Taken ~10pm, these shots came out splendidly, no artificial lighting was used. We waited at the scene ~ 5 minutes each time for the advertisements on the lighted billboard to rotate through to one with a more "daylight" cast to it. This most definitely paid off. ^__^

One afternoon late in November, I was terribly, terribly bored. Walking on my way from my apartment to lunch, I paid a quick visit to Leslie Hunsberger of Imagine That" I told Leslie about the "funk" I'd been in lately, and bless her heart, she was kind enough to ask,
"Mat, do you need a camera?"
Rushing to her cabinet of goodies, I snatched up one of her pristine Mamiya RB67's and threw a roll of Portra 400 in there to give it a test run over lunch. This "new camera" experience with 10 big, bright negatives was just what the doctor ordered!

She was campaigning today again, and I wonder it is was her or her double!! She looked so relaxed -- if pneumonia does this, every woman her age would want one! So spooky what the outcome will be!
