On this day, in the morning, we split into two groups for a combination of hiking and kayaking.
One group was shuttled to Baldwin Beach and kayaked from there to Fannette Island where they ate their packed lunch. They then kayaked to Emerald Bay and handed off the kayaks to the other group. From Emerald Bay they hiked along the Rubicon Trail to the campsite at D. L. Bliss.
The other group, the one I was in, did the reverse: we hiked from the campsite along the Rubicon Trail to Emerald Bay where we ate our packed lunch. It was here that we boarded the kayaks left by the other group. We kayaked from Emerald Bay to Fannette Island and then on to Baldwin Beach where we waited to be picked up.
These Kayakers are playing in the rapids of the Reversing Falls in Saint John N.B. The reason they are called the reversing falls is, the mouth of the river opens into the Bay of Fundy. When the tide is out the river flows towards the Bay, but when the tide comes in it forces the river to change direction and actually flow upstream.

What do you do when a car is blocking yours in the driveway? In our case, my mechanic uncle disabled something underneath the car (gear shift lock, I think), pushed it out of the way, pulled the other car out and then pushed the blocking car back in.
Here Uncle Timmy is reactivating the lock.

A kayak is a small, narrow human-powered watercraft typically propelled by means of a long, double-bladed paddle.
The word kayak originates from the Inuktitut word qajaq.
In British English, the kayak is also considered to be a kind of canoe.
The first kayaks were constructed from stitched seal or other animal skins stretched over a wood or whalebone-skeleton frame.
Western Alaskan Natives used wood whereas the eastern Inuit used whalebone due to the treeless landscape.
Kayaks are believed to be at least 4,000 years old.
