Sinasabi sa alamat ng bayan ng Amadeo na kaya daw naging si Sta. Magdalena ang napiling patrona ay dahil maraming nagkakaingin sa Amadeo na mga taga Kawit.
Isang alamat din ang nagsasabing may isang babaeng walang pagkakakilanlan ang nagpakilalang Maria na may kapatid na taga Kawit. At kinaumagahan ay isang babae na lang ang lumitaw mula sa bukid.

Ang musika ng PambansĆ¢ng Ćwit ng FilipĆnas ay nilikha ni Julian Felipe at may orihinal na pamagat na āMarcha Filipina Magdalo.ā Nang hirangin ang awit bilang opisyal na himno ng Republika ay pinalitan ito ng pamagat at ginawang āMarcha Nacional Filipina.ā Wala itong titik nang gamitin sa okasyon ng pagdedeklara ng Unang Republika ng Filipinas noong 12 Hunyo 1898 sa Kawit, Cavite. Ang bĆ”nda ng San Francisco de Malabon ang inatasang tumugtog nito sa pagkompĆ”s ni Felipe. Ang musika ay nasa batayang kompĆ”s na 2/4 at nasa tunugang C Mayor. Noong 1924, ang orihinal na manuskrito ng musika ay opisyal na binili ng gobyerno mula kay Felipe sa halagang apat na libong piso.
Ang mga titik naman ng Pambansang Awit ng Filipinas ay nagsimula bilang isang tula sa Espanyol na isinulat ni Jose Palma. May pamagat itong āFilipinasā at inilathala sa unang anibersaryo ng La Independencia noong 3 Setyembre 1899. Nang lumaon, ginawa na itong opisyal na titik ng himno. Noong dekada 20 unang nagkaroon ng salin sa wikang Ingles at ginawa nina Camilo Osias at Mary Lane at may titulong Philippine Hymn. Inilimbag ang salin at musika sa 1924 edisyon ng Progressive Music Series na pinamatnugutan ni Horatio Parker. Noong dekada 40, lumitaw ang diiilang salin sa Tagalog ng titik ng himno. Noong panahon ng pananakop ng Hapon sa Filipinas, opisyal na isinalin ang titik sa Tagalog sa titulong Diwa ng Bayan. Matapos ang Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig, nagkaroon ng hiwa-hiwalay na pagsasalin sina Julian Cruz Balmaceda, Ildefonso Santos at Francisco Carballo at naging batayan ng pinalaganap na bersiyong naging popular sa tawag na āO Sintang Lupa.ā
Noong 26 Mayo 1956, bumuo ng isang komite para lumikha ng isang bagong bersiyon ng awit sa wikang Filipino. Nasa komite ang mga kinatawan ng Pangasiwaan ng Edukasyon, Kawanihan ng Publikong Paaralan, Kawanihan ng Pribadong Paaralan, Unibersidad ng Pilipinas, mga samahang pampanitikan, at Philippine Constabulary Band. Sa pangangasiwa ng Direktor ng Surian ng Wikang Pambansa. Ang resulta ay inilabas sa Executive Order No. 60 noong 19 Disyembre 1963. Dito, ang awit na may pamagat na āLupang Hinirangā ay ipinaturo sa mga paaralan at ipinagamit sa mga gawain ng pamahalaan. (RCN) (ed GSZ)

Si Emilio Famy Aguinaldo (EĀ·mĆlĀ·yo FĆ”Ā·mi AĀ·giĀ·nĆ”lĀ·do) ang unaāt hulĆng pangulo ng Unang Republika ng Filipinas. Ipinanganak si Aguinaldo sa Kawit, Cavite noong 26 Marso 1869 kina Carlos Aguinaldo at Trinidad Famy. May kabuhayan ang pamilya niyĆ”, ngunit tumigil sa pag-aaral sa Aguinaldo noong nĆ”sa ikatlong taon ng segunda enseƱanza at tumulong sa negosyo ng mga magulang. Noong 1895, nahalal siyĆ” ng Kawit na capitan municipal, ang binagong tawag sa gobernadorsilyo o punĆ² ng bayan sa ilalim ng Batas Maura. Ikinasal din siyĆ” kay Hilaria del Rosario. Nang mabalitaan ang Katipunan, nagpunta siyĆ” ng Maynila at nanumpang kasapi. Pagsiklab ng Himagsikang 1896, nakilĆ”la siyĆ” sa mga matagumpay na labanan sa Cavite. Nang magkaroon ng halalan sa Tejeros noong 22 Marso 1897, siyĆ” ang nahalal na pangulo ng binagong pamahalaang mapanghimagsik.
Inilipat niyĆ” ang himpilan ng pamahalaang mapanghimagsik sa Biyakna-bato, San Miguel de Mayumo, Bulacan. Doon din siyĆ” lumagda sa kasunduan, ang Kasunduang Biyak-na-bato noong 14-15 Disyembre 1897, na pansamantalang nagtigil sa himagsikan hĆ”bang kusa siyĆ”ng nadestiyero sa Hong Kong kasĆ”ma ang iba pang lider rebolusyonaryo. Pagkaraan ng ilang buwan, bumalik si Aguinaldo sa Filipinas, ipinahayag ang kasarinlan ng Filipinas noong 12 Hunyo 1898 mula sa kaniyang tahanan sa Kawit, at sinimulan ang ikalawang yugto ng Himagsikang Filipino. Noong 23 Enero 1899, pormal na ipinahayag ang Unang Republika ng Filipinas sa Malolos, Bulacan. Halos kasunod nitĆ³ ang pagsiklab din ng Digmaang FilipinoFilipino noong Pebrero 1899 na nauwi sa pag-urong ng hukbong Filipino pa-Hilagang Luzon. Nadakip si Aguinadlo sa Palanan, Isabela noong 23 Marso 1901 at tuluyang bumagsak ang Republikang Malolos.
Nabiyudo siyƔ noong 1921 at pinakasalan si Hilaria Agoncillo noong 1930. Kumandidato siyƔng pangulo ng pamahalaang Komonwelt ngunit tinƔlo ni Manuel L. Quezon. Namatay siyƔ noong 6 Pebrero 1964 ngunit naabutan pa niyƔng ipinahayag ni Pangulong Diosdado P. Macapagal ang Hunyo 12 bilang Araw ng Kalayaan ng Filipinas. (VSA)

Ang Acta de la proclamaciĆ³n de independencia del pueblo Filipino (Ć”kĀ·ta de la prokĀ·laĀ·masĀ·yon de inĀ·deĀ·penĀ·dĆ©nĀ·siĀ·yĆ” del puĀ·wĆ©Ā·blo FiĀ·liĀ·pĆĀ·no) ay ang kasulatang binĆ”sa sa araw ng deklarasyon ng kasarinlan at kalayaan ng Filipinas noong 12 Hunyo 1898 sa bahay ni Heneral Emilio Aguinaldo sa Kawit, Cavite. Sa panulat sa Espanyol ni Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista, kilalĆ” bilang Don Bosyong, sinulat ang proklamasyon mula Mayo hanggang Hunyo 1898 at nilagdaan ng 98 tao. Nilalaman ng proklamasyon ang pagmimithi ng kalayaan ng bansa mula sa kolonisasyon ng Espanya.
Ang proklamasyon ay isang napakahalagang pangyayari pagkatapos bumalik ni Aguinaldo mula sa destiyero sa Hong Kong at bahagi ng planong wakasan ang pananakop ng mga Espanyol sa Filipinas. Bumalik si Aguinaldo na sakay ng bapor na Amerikano at taglay ang paniwalang magiging kaalyado ang Estados Unidos sa pagpapaalis ng mga Espanyol. Sa hĆ”pon ng Hunyo 12, iwinagayway ang Pambansang Watawat ng Filipinas na tinahi nina Marcela Agoncillo, Lorenza Agoncillo, at Delfina Herboza sa Hong Kong. Tinugtog din ang Marcha Filipina Magdalo, kilalĆ” ngayon bilang Pambansang Awit na āLupang Hinirang,ā na binuong musika ni Julian Felipe.
Hindi kinilĆ”la ng Espanya ang deklarasyon sa Cavite KayĆ¢ nagpatuloy ang itinuturing na ikalawang yugto ng Himagsikang Filipino. Ngunit lumitaw ding higit na nais sakupin ng Estados Unidos ang Filipinas mula sa Espanya, na luminaw sa pagpasok ng hukbong Amerikano sa Maynila, at nang lumaon, sa pagkakaroon ng Tratadong Paris. Sa naturang kasunduan, ipinagbili ng Espanya ang Filipinas sa Estados Unidos. Sa panahong iyon, hawak na ng Republika ng Filipinas na itinatag sa Malolos ang halos buong kapuluan. Ipinagpatuloy ng mga Amerikano ang layuning mapanakop at humantong sa Digmaang Filipino-Amerikano. Nagwagi ang mga Amerikano ngunit nangakong ihahanda ang mga Filipino tungo sa pagsasarili. Ibinigay ng Estados Unidos ang kasarinlan ng Filipinas noong 4 Hulyo 1946. Ngunit sa panahon ng pamumunĆ² ni Pangulong Diosdado Macapagal, inilipat niya ang Araw ng Kasarinlan sa Hunyo 12 bilang pagkilĆ”la sa proklamasyon sa Kawit, Cavite noong 12 Hunyo 1898.

Ginanap ito sa balkonahe ng matandang bahay-na-bato ni Hen. Emilio Aguinaldo na kababalik noon mulang Hong Kong upang ipagpatuloy ang Himagsikang Filipino laban sa mga Espanyol. Bukod sa pagbĆ”sa ni Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista sa Akta ng Pagpapahayag ng Kasarinlan, iwinagayway sa pagkakataĆ³ng ito ang tinatawag ngayong PambansĆ¢ng WatĆ”wat at tinugtog ang Marcha Filipina Magdalo na naging musika ng PambansĆ¢ng Ćwit ngayon.
Ang Akta ay nilagdaan ng 98 katao, kabĆlang ang isang Amerikanong koronel sa hukbo ng Estados Unidos. Noong nĆ”sa Malolos, Bulacan na ang hukbong Filipino, ipinabago ni Apolinario Mabini ang teksto ng Akta dahil waring ipinaiilalim ang Filipinas sa proteksiyon ng mga Amerikano.
Ang pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Kasarinlan tuwing Hunyo 12 ay sinimulan ni Pangulong Diosdado Macapagal sa pamamagitan ng Republic Act No. 4166 noong 4 Agosto 1964. Bago ito, ipinagdiriwang sa Araw ng Kasarinlan ang pagbibigay ng kalayaan sa Filipinas ng Estados Unidos noong 4 Hulyo 1946. (VSA)

This massive sarcophagus is made of several limestone slabs, set on a sandstone base. The lid consist of three parts, and each of them is pierced by two holes through which suspension ropes were slotted for lowering the piece into place. The inscription around the sarcophagus box were first painted green, then outlined in black on two sides; the third side was started but left unfinished.
When found there was still a wooden coffin in the sarcophagus, and in it was HenhenetĀ“s robbed mummy, "lying on the cloth wrappings. Her hands and feet are small and delicately formed, her hair short and straight" wrote Eduard Naville, excavator.
The lid of this sarcophagus was severely destroyed. The lid presently in place belonged originally to the sarcophagus of another royal lady named Kawit.

Isa sa mga pambansang dambana ng Filipinas, ang DambanĆ ng Aguinaldo (AĀ·giĀ·nĆ”lĀ·do) na matatagpuan sa Kawit, Cavite at pook na pinangyarihan ng pagpapahayag ng kalayaan noong 12 Hunyo 1898 sa pangunguna ni Heneral Emilio Aguinaldo. Dito nasaksihan ang unang opisyal na pagwagayway ng bandila ng Filipinas na tinahi sa Hong Kong ni Marcela Agoncillo sa tulong nina Lorenza Agoncillo at Delfina Herboza. Dito rin unang narinig ng publiko ang tugtuging naging Pambansang Awit na nilikha ni Julian Felipe. Ang nasabing komposisyon ay may orihinal na titulong Marcha Filipina Magdalo. Gayunman, matapos italaga ito bilang opisyal na martsa ng Filipinas, pinalitan ni Felipe ang titulo ng Marcha Nacional Filipina.

Upang makuha ang pagkilĆ”la ng Estados Unidos sa pagpapahayag ng kalayaan ng Filipinas, inimbitahan ni Aguinaldo si Commodore George Dewey ngunit tumanggi ang hulĆ. Gayunman, kabilang sa 98 tao na pumirma sa pahayag si Koronel L.M. Johnson, isang Amerikanong opisyal.
Sentro ng dambana ang tahanang ansestral ni Aguinaldo na ipinatayĆ“ noong 1845. Sa bahay na ito isinilang ang nasabing heneral. Sa balkonahe nitĆ³ naganap ang pagwawagayway ng bandila at pagpoproklama ng kalayaan. Sa kasalukuyan, bilang pag-alaala sa makasaysayang pangyayaring ito, may mga mataas na pinunĆ² ng pamahalaan na nagtataas ang watawat ng Filipinas dito tuwing umaga ng Hunyo 12. Isang monumento ni Aguinaldo ang itinayĆ“ sa harapan ng bahay bilang paggalang at parangal. Synopsis
Revolutionary leader Emilio Aguinaldo was born on March 22, 1869, in Kawit, Cavite, Philippines. In 1898, he achieved independence of the Philippines from Spain and was elected the first president of the new republic under the Malolos Congress. He also led the Philippine-American War against U.S. resistance to Philippine independence. Aguinaldo died of a heart attack on February 6, 1964, in Quezon City, Philippines.
Early Life
Emilio Aguinaldo was born on March 22, 1869, in Kawit, Cavite, Philippines. Nicknamed Miong, Aguinaldo was the seventh of eight children. His parents were of Chinese and Tagalog descent. His father, Carlos, died when Aguinaldo was just nine years old. Widowed, his mother, Trinidad, sent him to attend public school in Manila.
Having had to cut his studies short at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran due to a cholera outbreak, Aguinaldo returned home to Kawit, where he developed a growing awareness of Filipino frustration with Spanish colonial rule.
While serving as the head of barter in Manila, he joined the Pilar Lodge chapter of the Freemasonry in 1895. The Freemasonry was a government and church-banned resistance group. It was through his role as municipal captain of this fraternity that Aguinaldo met Andres Bonifacio, a key figure in the fight to overthrow Spanish rule.

The architectural design of the Aklatang Emilio Aguinaldo - Information Resource Center (AEA-IRC) was a replica of the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, the home of the first Philippine President General Emilio Aguinaldo. The facade of AEA-IRC contributed to the historical aura of the Br. Gus Boquer FSC Cultural Heritage Complex is a cultural zone envisioned by Br. Andrew Gonzales, FSC. The interiors of the building create a classic design that replicates 19th-century architecture. Moreover, the AEA-IRC rooms were named after the 13 martyrs of Cavite to commemorate the heroism and the contribution the CaviteƱos played to Philippine history.

The Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite marks the place of the declaration of independence of the Philippines from Spain on June 12, 1898. Today it serves as a national shrine and museum where the Philippine flag is raised on June 12th of each year to celebrate the Araw ng Kalayaan (Independence Day). President Emilio Aguinaldo was interred in the garden of his home after his death on February 6, 1964, which he had donated to the nation on June 12, 1963.
