This was once a popular restaurant in the 80's and 90's. It has been closed for a long time now. Stories say that it was a land dispute that caused the closure. The restaurant seems to be abandoned for awhile but the structures are still there. This particular one is situated above a pond. It's full of tilapia (a type of fish - yep edible hehe).

Such a feeling coming over me

There is wonder in most everything I see

Not a cloud in the sky

Got the sun in my eyes

And I wont be surprised if its a dream

Everything I want the world to be

Is now coming true especially for me

And the reason is clear

Its because you are here

You're the nearest thing to heaven that I've seen

When I'm getting home tonight

I'm gonna hold her tight

I'm gonna love her till the cows come home

I bet I'll love her more

till I walk out that door again

Come on, let me through

I got so many things I gotta do

I got no business being here with you

Believe it or not,

I'm walking on air.

I never thought I could feel so free-.

Flying away on a wing and a prayer.

Who could it be?

Believe it or not it's just me.

It's like a light of a new day-,

It came from out of the blue.

Breaking me out of the spell I was in,

Making all of my wishes come true-.

Devotees touching and kissing the original miraculous image of Kawit's Beloved Patroness.

ST. MARY MAGDALENE PARISH (KAWIT CHURCH)

Aside from the Aguinaldo Shrine, Cavite el Viejo (now Municipality of Kawit) has another historical gem - the Kawit Church.

Quoted from UP ROAD TRIP (uproadtrip.tumblr.com/post/135627807981/paskong-pilipino-...)

"This church was built in year 1638 through the efforts of the Jesuit priests who came to Cavite Viejo (now Kawit) to spread Christianity. Six rich Filipino families from Silang and Maragondon, Cavite funded the construction of the first wooden church. The construction of the current stone church started in 1737. A typhoon devastated the area in 1831 which destroyed its original roof. The church also suffered severely during the American-Filipino War. It almost collapsed during the bombardments in 1898. It was fully restored in 1990 and during the same year, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines gave it a historical marking that appreciates its contribution to the rich history of the town."

Thanks everyone!

Yesterday (Philippine time), the Philippines celebrated its 111th Anniversary of Independence. The Philippine Declaration of Independence occurred on June 12, 1898 in Cavite el Viejo (now Kawit), Cavite, Philippines. With the public reading of the Act of the Declaration of Independence, Filipino revolutionary forces under General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine Islands from the colonial rule of Spain, which had been recently defeated at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War.

The declaration, however, was not recognized by the United States or Spain. The Spanish government later ceded the Philippines to the United States in the 1898 Treaty of Paris that ended the Spanish-American War.

The United States recognized Philippine independence on July 4, 1946 in the Treaty of Manila. July 4 was observed in the Philippines as Independence Day until August 4, 1964 when, upon the advice of historians and the urging of nationalists, President Diosdado Macapagal signed into law Republic Act No. 4166 designating June 12 as the country's Independence Day. June 12 had previously been observed as Flag Day.

Dear Friends,

I'm truly sorry for not visiting your streams lately... I'm still so busy this past few days after coming back from our trip to LA. I was not supposed to post anything until I've visited your streams but I just cannot let this day pass without greeting my kababayans on the 111th Year Anniversary of Philippine Independence! ('twas yesterday there but better late than never...). Mabuhay ka Pinoy!

I'll be on & off on Flickr for a few more days!

Have a great weekend my friends!

Just me,

Jen
