When one door closes, another opens. The first plan for the day was to click Lara in the park in early morning - cancelled. Second plan was to go and click an interesting looking tree - it was just too cluttered to be framed in any decent manner. Third plan was to click the moon since the 55-250mm lens is still at my place - it looked very dull without a nice backdrop. I was feverishly searching for a subject in the markets currently decorated for Karvachauth but ended up finding only piles of bangles and make-up. After the amazing portrait I clicked yesterday, I kind of want to continue clicking more portraits right now - after all, that is my one true love. Chanced upon this extremely 可爱、温顺 baby while sitting in Domino's waiting for food. I walked up to their table, asked his parents for permission and fired away. Little did I know the 1-year old boy would turn out to be so photogenic and so expressive! His name is Heera and he has a fraternal twin sister Angel. I totally love this boy, and I hope I get a chance to click him or his elder brother again some time :)

Women apply henna on their hands, get lot of make-up materials, etc. This fast is "Neerjala" meaning fasting without intake of even water.
As the day comes to an end, the women read some stories about the origin of this festival and the reasons why they are doing this fast. After the pooja (worship), the husband now takes the water from the thali (plate) and gives his wife her first sip of water or juice and feeds her with the first morsel of the day (usually something sweet). The fast is now broken, and the woman has a complete meal. It is customary for the husband to make a gift to his wife...
