In fairy tales trees often come to life and so in the Efteling too. Sometimes they are almost indistinguishable from the real thing until you see the branches, mouth and eyes move.

There are several gnome houses in the Fairytale Forest. Beautiful large mushrooms, designed by the designers Anton Pieck, Ton van de Ven and Henny Knoet and built between 1952 and 1980. They blend naturally into the surrounding park. The many paths and corridors around and in the mushrooms are a favorite with children who are looking for even more (moving) gnomes.
The music that a gnome plays on his spinet somewhere can be heard in many places. He plays Menuet in G major (Per Jocum. Opus II, Latin: "Just for fun, second work"), which is a well-known tune for many visitors.
