Pileated Woodpecker interesting fact: their favourite food is carpenter ants. They listen for ant activity in an old rotting tree and then pound away. Once through the wood, they use their long, barbed and very sticky tongue to get the ants.

It's quite warm in the sun at the moment, almost too warm for Tofu's taste. He could have found himself a nice place in the shade but for some reason he didn't. Maybe he hoped to get a suntan ... or he was simply too lazy.
Walking through the park the loud tapping sound of the woodpecker got me looking up and I noticed the beautiful soft pastel colours of the woods as winter draws to its end. Thank you woodpecker for making me look up. Not only is there beauty in every season, but in between seasons too.

Nervous moments as 70803 races the fast moving clouds heading towards us down the slopes of Whernside. Fortunately the 70 won the race and catches the sun nicely as it eases off Ribblehead viaduct with the ever popular 6J37 Carlisle to Chirk working.
This day was a walking rather than photography trip but we arrived back at Ribblehead just in time to grab a shot.
