Just me reading my Kindle

Tone and the kids gave me a beautiful Kindle Fire for my birthday. It needs protecting from the other contents of my handbag so I made this case.

As with J's iPad case www.flickr.com/photos/45971461@N04/6541783057/in/photostr...

I used these tutorials as a guide:

1) the original kindle case tute:

sometimescrafter.blogspot.com/2009/09/tutorial-patchwork-...

2) the ammended version for the ipad:

greenleafgoods.wordpress.com/2011/07/11/quilted-ipad-cover/

3) and finally instructions for adding the magnetic closure:

nicolemdesign.blogspot.com/2008/08/how-to-insert-best-mag...

The triangles are machine pieced from 2 1/2" triangles cut with these Marti Michell templates:

www.frommarti.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_...

Machine quilted in simple straight lines.

100% wool wadding because it's light and breathable but still protects the kindle from damage.

Spotted in Cedar City, Utah- Best Western Town and Country Inn. Manufactured some where between 1909 to 1929. My strong guess this was perhaps at the very end due to strong Art deco. The company went bankrupt in 1929.

Curls up on Kindle , instead of "old fashioned book" LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Caturday !

Funny, and my boy reading an actual book in the previous post :-)

When I glanced at this table, the light happened to be hitting my Kindle and Switch joycons just right, so I couldn't resist a quick shot with my new phone camera (which itself is working out quite well).

コタツのほうにふと見たらこんな魅力的な光があったので、最近購入したスマホのカメラで撮影してみました。なかなかのものだと思います。

In response to emails I got about yesterdays kindle post I'm posting this pic. Yes, you can see the screen in direct sunlight at any angle. The kindle is lying flat on a table in midday sun, no glare. So glad there is so much interest in kindle, I'm very happy with mine. Enjoy.

Digital or film :) I saw the kindle advertising in the back and the guy deep into his paper and I thought to myself if I will ever leave the black fingers , or one day stop buying books nah ... don't think so... Same goes for digital gadgets...love them and could even call myself an electronic gagdet geek but something about the stuff we are always familiar with gives me great pleasure. Also, I think we become more and more impatient in the age of emails, and the digital age we forget to wait and take our time . I find this film experience a great way of reteaching myself those things that we easily have forgotten.

For my dear friend K's birthday. Hopefully, she won't see this before I give it to her! Used Moda Bake Shop Pattern

My wife got me the latest generation Kindle Wifi for my birthday a bit early. I have been reading on an iPod touch or my iPhone for the last ~2 years for almost 90% of the novels and books that I read. I loved the convenience of being able to buy books online, not wait for shipping and not have to hold up a book and flip pages. After a while though I had grown tired of the fatigue caused by extended 'phone reading' and was envious of my wife's Kindle.

Once the lowered the price to $139 it was too hard to pass up. I decided the 3G version really didn't do much for me since the device will remain at home 99% of the time and if/when I travel most hotels have wifi. Plus I'll have a load of books on the device already.

So far I really really love it. I read way faster than on my phone and can read for longer at a time. It turns pages really quickly, the screen is really contrasty and looks good at any angle just like a piece of paper. It weighs almost nothing and is really comfortable to hold and use.

UPDATE Jan 2013: I've since upgraded to the Kindle Paperwhite and will be posting a pic and review shortly
