People often tell me I give wise advice.
I just tell them the universe is speaking to me through myself speaking to them.
But sometimes, even I don't know what to say to assuage a heavy heart, or comfort one who has been wronged, or to in anyway justify someone else's stupidity. Other times, quite honestly, the empath in me is so drained that I don't even want to deal anymore.
Then, instead of wise, thoughtful words, all I manage to utter is
"People are idiots."
I'm kicking around the idea of starting a kick starter account to get a giant billboard installed with that exact sentiment printed on it.

I started the process of growing my tomatoes indoors around April 10 or so. Here they are a week later. I used the Bio Dome seed starter to kickstart the process.
The way the Bio Dome works is you drop one or two seeds on a plug of soil that is included with the kit. There is a "dome" that is used to keep the environment humid. At this stage the seeds have germinated so no dome is needed. I'm using an old hermit crab adhesive heater we had around the house to keep the tray of seeds warm.
The grow light is the simple, yet efficient T5 system from Hydrofarm. The light is easily adjustable and I keep it about 1 or 2 inches above the plants.
The first row is Cupid hybrid (grape tomatoes), rows 2, 3 and 4 are the "Rainbow Heirloom Blend" which is a random mix of Aunt Ruby's German Green, Dixie Golden Giant, Black from Tula, Brandywine Red, Big Rainbow, and Cherokee Purple and row 5 is the Orange Paruche hybrid (cherry tomatoes).

César Harada, né en 1983 d’une mère française et d’un père japonais (le sculpteur Tetsuo Harada), est un jeune homme plein de talent qui a fait des études à droite et à gauche dans les domaines de l’art, du film d’animation, du design graphique et du design tout court. Il a fréquenté l’école Boulle dont il est diplômé, l’école nationale supérieure des Arts décoratifs à Paris, l’Université Central Saint Martins de Londres, l’École nationale supérieure de création industrielle et le Royal College of Art de Londres. Il s’est même inscrit en Master à Paris 8, où j’ai eu le plaisir de l’avoir comme étudiant. Il a été chercheur au senseable Lab du MIT, et il parcourt le monde avec ses projets divers et variés.
Depuis quelques années, j’entends surtout parler de ses travaux relatifs à la mer, notamment au sein du projet Open Sailing, grand œuvre collaboratif dont il est l’initiateur et dont le but est de créer une station océanique open source dans le but d’explorer et d’étudier la mer. Ce projet a, entre autres, obtenu le prix [Next Idea] du festival Ars Electronica en 2009.
À présent, César se trouve dans le Golfe du Mexique où il coordonne une équipe internationale qui travaille à la mise au point de Protei, un drone marin autonome destiné à nettoyer les dégâts des fuites de Pétrole comme celle qui souille les côtes américaines depuis un an. Il s’agit d’un projet innovant et « libre », c’est à dire que les technologies mises au point pourront être diffusées sans être brevetées et donc, être utilisées par qui veut. Dans un esprit très do-it-yourself, Protei s’appuie sur Arduino mais aussi sur des composants de Wii détournés de leur usage d’origine.

On peut aider financièrement Protei grâce au site américain KickStarter. Ce service collecte les contributions (à partir de 1$) en fonction d’un objectif précis. Si cet objectif est atteint ou dépassé, l’argent est transmis aux initiateurs du projet. Si l’objectif n’est pas atteint, les dons ne sont pas collectés, chacun récupère son argent.
Des gratifications symboliques ou tangibles récompenseront les investisseurs, selon le montant du don : être mentionné comme « renfort » du projet (dès 5$), avoir un lien vers son site (dès 10$), recevoir un mode d’emploi imprimé pour construire son propre Protei (à partir de 20$), recevoir le matériel pour construire son propre Protei (au delà de 275$ d’investissement), etc.
Il ne reste plus que cinq jours pour atteindre l’objectif de 27500$. À l’heure ou j’écris, plus de 20000$ ont été engagés.
