#BurgBiz // As the old adage says – “A rising tide lifts all boats.”
.
Meet Leigh + Tina, the inspiration and founders of @risingtidestp. After working together for 15+ years, developing and building their own law firm, Fletcher & Fischer, P.L. – Leigh + Tina decided to create a work environment for people to come together to work and better their business – while also bettering themselves.
.
Leigh’s + Tina’s own experience in building a law firm was a catalyst in creating Rising Tide. The dynamic duo understood the ebbs and flows of building a business, so they wanted to take what they learned to help other businesses grow.
.
This co-work space provides a positive work atmosphere, frequent accreditation classes and around-the-clock support. Rising Tide is not only filled with personal office spaces, state-of-the-art desks and “The Room of Requirement” – it also offers refreshments, collaboration rooms and unlimited coffee.
.
“We wanted to help people kickstart their businesses without having to worry about the extra stuff. We designed this space ourselves with the intent to create a work environment that makes you feel better and healthier.”
.
So far, it’s safe to say the two have embraced the cutting-edge culture that is St. Pete.
.
In addition to helping other businesses to succeed, the other positive of an innovation center in the heart of downtown is building a community with people of all different backgrounds and professions.
.
“It’s amazing the people we meet every day. Everyone has a hidden talent and story.”

Creative Financing to Make Small-Scale Farming Technologies Affordable for the Rural Poor
Small-scale farming is the principal source of livelihood for many in Kenya. Agriculture provides 71 percent of employment and accounts for over 25 percent of Kenya‘s GDP. KickStart International’s shallow water irrigation pumps can increase annual net-farm incomes for these farmers by an average of $700 per year. Despite the relatively low cost of KickStart’s pumps, however, they are still beyond the reach of many poor farmers who often have irregular incomes and find it difficult to pay the large up-front cost of the pump. With support from DIV, KickStart is testing two innovative financing mechanisms to increase access to these products and help break down critical financial barriers.

Final preparations are being made to host the Pre-GES Expo from 22-23 July ahead of US President Barack Obama's much-anticipated visit to the east African nation this weekend where he will address the main Global Entrepreneurship Summit which brings together entrepreneurs at all stages of business development, business leaders, mentors, and high-level government officials. To me the most important part of the shot was the lines. I didn't want the lines to be too busy and I also didn't want just one or two lines. I think there is a sense of balance in the photo with the lines and the way they flow.

New affordable housing is now being constructed in the shadow of the Anglican Cathedral.
Very recently, plans for large-scale redevelopment have been released for the Great George Street area. Formerly known as the "Tribeca" scheme, the new proposals known as "Little Shanghai" are set to kickstart regeneration plans for this corner of the city.
Should Little Shanghai materialise, it is anticipated that there will be a stronger business case for the re-opening of St James' Station.
