Ever since mankind has known the concept of “property”, there has been a need for the possibility of storing objects in safe places. Where this was initially mainly done in holes in the ground, a first type of key soon came onto the market. These then wooden keys were large by our standards and were carried on the back. It was not until Roman times that locks were first made of metal, although it is rumoured that forms of metal locks by Greek locksmiths already existed in Ancient Greece. www.deslotenwacht.nl/geschiedenis-van-de-sloten-en-sloten...

Mostly uninteresting keyholes around here. I finally found something a little different on my daughter's Chinese jewelry box...

This is the keyhole for a windup clock. It's quite different from a door's keyhole. It's a round slotted keyhole. The clock key is shaped differently too.

Happy Macro Mondays HMM!

Mere words will not do. They must convey the color, charm, and pulse of life. They must have a private twinkle of wit in them that makes a good-natured noise like laughter through the keyhole of the reader's mind.

This is the lock on a wooden tool box. It's one of the first toolboxes I acquired when I started working as a machinist. An old fellow that was retiring offered to sell it to me at a price I could afford. It was old and shop-worn then as it is even more so now after 40 years in my care. It didn't come with a key so I've never locked it. The image is about 70mm top to bottom. HMM and thank you all for any views, faves and comments.

When an opportunity comes knocking, you don't necessarily have to open your door. But you owe it to yourself to at least look through the keyhole. Marc Randolph

I have in my basement a very very old armoire that belonged to my grandmother. Nicks by the keyhole from the key over the years.

HMM dear friends. Here’s my take for this week’s Macro Mondays theme. What you see is the reflection of the keyhole on a mirror that was behind the shot door. Well, I got it clear and visible at least one way, if not the other. Enjoy your week and stay safe friends. Thank you for your visit :)

Don't look through the keyhole!

We have some items of furniture made of oak. The cupboards and display cases all have a real keyhole fitted with a false keyhole added to create the balance. This is an example of one of the false keyholes.

This is a vintage padlock, and the key is still there.

The lock is on top of a vintage money box.

This photo is taken today, the photo I had at first had the key in it so I had to replace it.

This is 4,5 cm.
