Padrão dos Descobrimento (Monument of the Discoveries) dominates the coastline in Belém. It celebrates the Portuguese Age of Discovery during the 15th and 16th centuries and, standing at 52m high, it dwarfs the Belém tower (to the left of it).

My two cats would pester me to go outside on the balcony but once they were out, they'd keep close tabs on what was going on inside in case they missed something. Much like people.The old adage, the grass is always greener on the other side.
if, by chance, you are wondering why I haven't been around much, there are a couple of reasons. The first one is easy, I don't have any new pics to post. I will be going to Cades Cove the end of this month an hopefully will have some good photos to post..
The second reason is the fact that I am so bummed about the direction of our country. If you are not aware of the freedoms we are losing on a daily basis then I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you are just asleep at the wheel. But I hope not. We are the only hope to save the America we know and love. Please wake up and realize what is happening to our country. God Bless America.
