The fimbriated dahlia 'Orange Impact' unexpectedly replaced a white dahlia in one of my spring orders. The huge flowers provide a welcome jolt of color to our front garden, especially on a hot sunny day.

Have a great start to the new week! Take care and stay safe. Thanks for stopping by and for all of your support -- I deeply appreciate it.

A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road.

These are very strange times...I think it's good to be real about how it is. Though often I have a sense of unreality, it's happened so fast. With some health issues (nothing normally life threatening) I'm now staying at home. It's not yet very different to daily life. I try to stay calm. Sometimes I'm afraid. Sometimes I cry. Sometimes I forget and then remember (there's a jolt in that :-) Sometimes I just have to laugh! And there's comfort (and distraction) in nature, in being here, on a planet that will continue to travel around the sun.

Thank you to all who share the journey..

whether you're here quietly or with words, it's appreciated!

Here's to being brave, being safe, and being real.

Does anyone else have thousands of photos sitting on their computer's hard disk that have never seen the light of day? I've been cleaning up my archives and thought I might let one out every now & again. They are great for bringing back memories. Thanks for indulging me strolling down memory lane.

This was taken from Hill Inlet looking over the unbelievable paradise that is Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsunday Islands, Queensland. The water is really that amazing colour and the silica sand so incredibly white & fine. Google Hill Inlet Whitehaven & your screen will fill images like this one. Impossible to take a bad photo there! And yes, it's the same place as the pic that has been my profile background all this time.

This was on a daytrip out from a cruise with couple of dozen friends for a mate's 50th & brings back lots of fun memories :)) This day of being jolted along on an ocean raft travelling at knots while hungover. And hundreds of fish swimming between your legs in the shallows at Whitehaven trying to get breadcrumbs you have thrown in to try and get some underwater pics with your GoPro. And the amazing snorkelling. Okay I'm stopping now, need to book a cruise to Whitehaven ;)

I was leaving on a trip already late, I hurried back on the plane, tired from the day before my meeting. I dozed off without realizing it, that's when I felt a jolt I opened my eyes and I saw everyone panicking what's happening?.... The lost plane of the altitude and crashed in a desert and i passed out i opened my eyes i felt like paralyzed can i turn my head and see this woman my you save her or is it a mirage then - I closed my eyes relieved to be alive in the arms of this woman.

Sort of like morning joe, a pleasant jolt but without the caffeine. End of November and the leaves are finally turning on Armand Bayou. The red (ish) in this scene is invasive Chinese tallow. It is fast-growing and crowds out native trees but at least it provides some nice color, spring and fall.

Update: On closer inspection, this appears to be a first year (button buck) male. Oh well.

Big changes are always accompanied by a strong jolt.

It is not the end of the world, it is the beginning of a new one.

Their voice, a far-carrying, excited kill-deer, is a common sound even after dark, often given in flight as the bird circles overhead on slender wings... The Killdeer’s broken-wing act leads predators away from a nest, but doesn’t keep cows or horses from stepping on eggs. To guard against large hoofed animals, the Killdeer uses a quite different display, fluffing itself up, displaying its tail over its head, and running at the beast to attempt to make it change its path."

Remind me the day and the year

Remind me what the weather was

And if I have forgotten it

You can jolt my memory

And if I am seized with the desire to get away Lock me in and throw away the key

Using memory injections

Tell me what I am called

Chorus:

If ever I forget the nights I spent

The guitars and the screams

Remind me who am I

And why I am alive

If ever I forget how to run away

And yet, if I do flee

Remind me who am I

And what I had promised myself

Remind me about my craziest dreams

Remind me about those tears on my cheeks

And whether I have forgotten

How much I loved to sing

Chorus:

If ever I forget the nights I spent

The guitars and the screams

Remind me who am I

And why I am alive

If ever I forget how to run away

And yet, if I do flee

Remind me who am I

And what I had promised myself

Oh Where is the sun

This somber morn

My heart weighs heavy

As clouds drift slowly by

As if stood up

Left at the altar

Where is the sun

Jolted

Such gravity

This joyless day

So intrinsically dependent

On the life force fireball

Up in the sky

How will I get through the day

Dare I hope to see the sun tomorrow

O yes, there is always tomorrow

Got to have that morning jolt...

When defining the Underground

You might list some statistics,

You might mention 249 miles of track,

or 1.1 billion who ride,

You might ride up the 426 escalators,

and then back down again,

You might stay on one Tube train,

traveling 114 thousand miles one year,

Might even mention the lifts,

totaling 164 in all,

or that there are 270 stations served,

260 stations managed,

and 19,000 who help you manage

When defining London’s Underground,

it seems a traveler’s anthem has been

a moan, and a groan,

and maybe that’s where they are

At the oft’ signal failure,

it’s true

Being packed like sardines at the peak of the day,

but when defining London’s Underground,

don’t forget to mention nearly 2.7 million journeys

each, and every day.

The trains whiz by, and oftentimes screech,

they jump, they jolt on many miles of track,

but all 4,134 get you to the spot

where you wish to be

And, yes,

Waterloo is busiest in the a.m.

when 57 thou’ hop on, and go,

though nearly 82 million

use it each year making it the liveliest of the lot.

Though the Circle Line is said to be torture

going slowly round, and round,

The network goes under only 40%

while the rest is on top of the ground,

And, 29 stations placed south of the Thames,

really not very many at all

Regent’s Park,

Hyde Park Corner,

Bank, then Piccadilly

have no buildings to mark their spot.

My second collaboration with the Great Experimental Artist, Harsubagh.

I've taken two of his images here, placed them next to each other and then repeated the first one ( on the left ) 3 times and layered that abstract piece over itself in a sequence. I left image alone, for the most part, in terms of further manipulation but the second one I've altered in colour. But up to the top right, I dropped in the original as a way to acknowledge its original state as well as use it as a device to "punctuate" the general "abstract" impression with a quick jolt of relatively SOOC.

The images that H sent me were all, except for one, what I would call, "Domestic" images, shots from around the neighbourhood or property and I launched off from there in titling and theme-ing these works around the idea of imagining this great and unorthodox creative mind ( H ) in amongst the most mundane of surroundings and how his neighbours might think of him.

This is pure, creative fantasy and imagination. For all I know, H lives in a very supportive and creatively enlightened neighbourhood. His altered and "Lynchian" domestic images sparked these ideas. I attached Tom Waits' "What's He Building?" to the first image as a music link to support this fantasy / flight of imagination. You could use the same song for this and the next image coming up, too.

The neighbourhood gossip I've added as text is a further development of that theme and something, sad to say, that's pretty universal. I had friends who lived in Shaker Heights, a very upscale neighbourhood in Cleveland, OH, that heard their neighbours saying these words over their bushes about them, almost verbatim. So drawing from memory, I included it here.

I look forward to doing more collaboration with Harsubagh as I think it's a rich mine we both have to explore.

the music: Transfigured night

Happy weekend, everyone … I hope it’s off to a beautiful start! Here on the farm, we’ve been decorating for the season, and after gardening all afternoon, an icy cold margarita was imminent. I mean, who are we kidding, with me, a margarita is always imminent. The most wonderful thing about this space is I’ve set it up so that my horses are nearby. And for me that equates to a happy place.

I don’t blog, clearly. But I sure as heck shop, and I’ve been finding some fantastic creations all around the SL realms. Huge thank you to all of the creators who make decorating and landscaping such fun!

Sending everyone lots of love 💕❤️

For a quick caffeine jolt, just reach for pocket coffiee! I did promise something different than my usual flower photos ... I was fooling around taking macro shots of various colourful things. Not many of the shots turned out, but I liked the colours of this box.

When disturbed they break into flight and circle overhead, calling repeatedly. Their flight is rapid, with stiff, intermittent wingbeats.”

Milou felt strange. She felt weirdly tiny, and as if she were hovering at a great height, being attached to... wait a minute! Was that Tintin's trench coat? How did she get there? And why? Was this a dream? She tried to move, to get off her beloved master's coat. But whatever it was that kept her in place didn't budge. Oh no! This was a proper nightmare! Was Tintin mad at her for dropping the message and taking the bone? Everything was good in the end; there was a happy ending, and it wasn't her fault! "Please, Tintin, let me down, I'm a good dog!" she yelped. From a distance, she heard a familiar voice, repeating her name. "Milou! Milou? Wake up, sleepy head. Professor Calculus called; he needs our help. Go and find Captain Haddock, we're off to a new adventure!" With a jolt of relief, she was on her four legs, shaking off the last remnants of that horrible dream, and she happily ran to her master, madly wagging her tail. Then she raced through Marlinspike Hall as if there was no tomorrow, barking: "Haddock, Haddock! A new adventure was waiting. Life was good.

I've always been a huge fan of the Tintin books (next to Asterix), especially Hergé's later work (and except for the first two books), but I'd always assumed that Snowy (in German: Struppi) was a male fox terrier. But when I learned that "his" original name was Milou, named after Hergé's first love, I wasn't so sure anymore. Milou sure is a boy, both as Snowy/Struppi, but as Milou? Dear French-speaking Flickr friends, please help me out with this, merci beaucoup :)

I have a few Tintin-related fangirl things, such as two Tintin figures and the moon rocket as key fobs, Snowy in the red racing car and Tintin as photographer as metal keyrings (actually on my keys for ages), Tintin and Snowy as fairly large, poseable dolls (only Tintin has articulating parts), and two pin badges, one of Tintin riding a motorbike, and the other one of Snowy with the bone. The badge on its own looked nice, but I wanted to add a story element, so I placed the key fob of standing Tintin with his coat on and hands in pockets, behind the Snowy badge. The first idea was to include Tintin's reflection, but the reflection was too long (or the tiny badge too small – or both), and it made the background too busy, so I "limited" the reflection to Snowy's.

It's a single shot, illuminated only from the left and right. Size info: The Snowy pin badge is 1,8 cm/0,7 inches long.

Instead of stepping OUT of the box, I'm stepping into them .... the box, square or cube format. Wanting to give things a bit of a jolt and a refresh I'm shifting gears a bit and reducing the scale of my work to see what I can do inside perfect squares or cubes instead of the "widescreen" that's dominated most of 2017's work.

I took this series of Pano-Sabotage shots a few years ago with the full intention of eventually getting them all into a box or cube. Warhol absolutely came to mind, but I wanted to launch off from Andy and do something different with Pano-Sabotage.

I posted most of these shots as individual pictures back when I first shot them in 2015 but now that I have the software required to realize the cubed Marilyn, the image, as it was originally intended appears now.

And we found it at Sunbird! Mr. Finicky was very impressed with the quality of the vegetation, and he almost showed it, but being the epitome of feline cool, he reins his emotions in. After this though, he saw a mouse and it was game over.

If anyone hasn't visited Lya and Adam's beautiful Sunbird, I have to enthusiastically encourage you to make travel plans to do so. It's a gorgeous sim, with an aura of positivity and good vibes, mirroring perfectly its creators! I scamper about there often, and any time I am feeling a little less than mega creatively inspired, a trip here always jolts me back onto that path.

Lya, if you happen to see this, huge thank you for everything, and I know this doesn't show a lot of the vast scope of pretty Sunbird, but it does highlight a hidden away favorite daydreaming spot for me!

Happy midweek everyone, I hope things are going absolutely wonderfully for you all. Sending love xoxo

Well, I knew everything, saw the signs and did nothing. I only used the free time to photograph railways. Sometime in the middle of the year, half a flight of stairs was in the programme, there was the big jolt.

I knew nothing about 232 184 in Altenburg/Thür. She (!) was simply there. But it was clear that she would not stand there forever. After a passenger train, the track was free and she drove away. Just like in real life!

"The startling truth is that our best efforts for civil rights, international peace, population control, conservation of natural resources and assistance to the starving of the earth—urgent as they are—will destroy rather than help if made in the [current] spirit. For, as things stand, we have nothing to give. If our own riches and our own way of life are not enjoyed here, they will not be enjoyed anywhere else. Certainly they will supply the immediate jolt of energy and hope that methedrine, and similar drugs, give in extreme fatigue. But peace can be made only by those who are peaceful and love can be shown only by those who love. No work of love will flourish out of guilt, fear or hollowness of heart, just as no valid plans for the future can be made by those who have no capacity for living now."

(Alan Watts)

we have a lot of earthquakes up here. the last one, last week was a small sharp jolt or two, 4.9 on the scale.

nothing seemed to be bothered much by it, but that night I noticed the wooden man and his horse.
