Army paratroopers jump from a U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules cargo aricraft during Operation Toy Drop 2012 at Fort Bragg, N.C., Dec. 8, 2012. This is the 15th year the Randy Oler Memorial Operation Toy Drop collected toy donations for children and families in need. Soldiers donate a new toy in exchange to jump with a foreign jumpmaster and earn foreign jump wings. This year, the event expanded from its traditional focus around Fort Bragg to select cities around the country. It is a Fort Bragg airborne tradition. New York City, NY- Service members from the New York Guard and New York National Guard reported to the Javits Convention Center in New York City at 0630 in the morning on November 25, 2019. The service members unboxed pallets of turkeys and other foods, packed them into 3100 bags, and then loaded the bags onto 18 NYS Department of Transportation vehicles which were then used to distribute the Turkey bags across the NYC/Long Island and Westchester areas.
The New York Military Force members were participating in the annual program sponsored by New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s initiative to distribute the ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal to needy families. Joint Operation “Turkey Drop” included forty Service members of the New York Guard, State Volunteer Defense Force, and 10 soldiers from the New York National Guard Joint Task Force Empire Shield, assigned to Bravo Company, FT Hamilton, NY. AMMAN, Jordan – Jordanian and United States troops fast rope from a hovering Jordanian H-60 Blackhawk onto a building in a mock village at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center during a capabilities demonstration for His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on May 16. Seven of the 19 nations participating in Eager Lion 12 took part in the demonstration, a key event during the exercise. Eager Lion 12 is an irregular warfare- themed exercise that includes more than 11,000 participants, focused on missions coalition partners might perform in support of contingency operations. The intent is to strengthen military-to-military relationships and interoperability through a joint, whole-of-government, multinational approach to meet current and future complex national security challenges. Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James F. Amos addressed a crowd of Marines and sailors at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, Dec. 23. Amos expressed his admiration to the service members for their accomplishments and dedication to supporting the ongoing counterinsurgency mission, especially while deployed during the holiday season.
