The frescoes in the Tornabuoni Chapel, the chancel of the basilica, were painted by Domenico Ghirlandaio from 1485 to 1490. They feature mostly scenes from the life of the Virgin (left wall), St John the Baptist (right wall), and various Dominican saints (rear wall).
The Santa Maria Novella is a large Gothic church in Florence, Italy. The basilica has an original Renaissance marble facade and is filled with art, including the Holy Trinity by Masaccio, a painted crucifix by Giotto, a carved crucifix by Brunelleschi, and a large number of frescoes painted in the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries. The adjacent museum has several Gothic cloisters but since its dissolution in the 19th century, the buildings of the original large Dominican monastery complex were repurposed for other uses.
This shot looks a little off-kilter because I was shooting through the chain-link fence surrounding the house. West Windsor, NJ.
John Chambers was 88 years old when Holbein executed this portrait. The close similarity of the sitter with the man identified as Chambers in the barber surgeons' picture (on Henry's right) allow a definite identification. Chambers was a cleric who also distinguished himself as a doctor. He was so successful in this profession that Henry VIII appointed him one of his personal physicians.

This man smiles a lot, and he loves rap and photography. This is a good man, in my opinion. UPDATE: And, of all things, he studied economics at the Universty of Maryland. I think I kind of want to marry JV.
