Inevitable Question 10a:
What are your strengths?
I've got a PHOTOGRAPHIC memory for gossip and tattle!!
A couple of months ago, an aneurysm burst in my sister's brain. She was on life support for about a week. There was an operation to relieve the pressure, then she was kept on a medically induced coma for another couple of weeks. As the medication was tapered off, she began to rouse.
We all hadn't thought she was going to live, but she did. She had a great amount of damage to her brain. The first in our family to get a job and practically supported us during her teen years, independent and intelligent, she seems to be the same, but we are finding out what losses she had because of the damage.
I took some photos of her when she was sent to an Acute Care facility after she began to be strong enough to leave ICU. I tried, as I did here, to use my artistic skill on them. I am currently jobsearching, and because I tend to process stress and worry through creativity, I tried to do it with my photos. I destroyed them. I thought it was too personal.
Instead, I used my brother's photos. This is as far as I wanted to get. I couldn't use her pain as art. It was not mine to use.
