Ups ... sandstorm at Maho beach :-) caused by jetblast of an Airbus A300 at SXM.

Who ordered the nice layer of Jet Blast? Departing out to go chase the 747-8F!

They ain't kidding. I've seen people blown into the ocean from the jetblast!

Earlier this year I was asked to photograph a marriage. A wonderful thing to do. Especially, as the couple wanted no ordinary album, but a mix of romantic photos and an authentic journalistic impression of their "big day"

The happy couple picked a wonderful all weather location for their photo shoot: the airport at Rotterdam, the Netherlands. They both have great interest or are involved in the aviation industry. So, why not pose with an aircraft...

That day the weather was not that great. The METAR showed: 050725Z 01006KT 8000 R24/7500 +DZ RA BKN022 OVC050 18/M21 Q1020 NOSIG. So, we were in and out of the hangar to take photos.

In the middle of the in-between-showers-outdoor-shoot, the flight crew of another aircraft started their engines to taxi to the runway. As jet blast can cause real havoc and destruction on a big wedding dress, the bride made a flight for Airport 1 to shelter from the jet fuel laced mini tornado. All in all a funny situation, that also resulted in a memorable and not so ordinary wedding photo. Mission accomplished!! (including getting the engine of the B737-800 in the shot).

The red line on the apron had a big resemblance with a red carpet, so I left it red in this black and white image.

The heat and wind were intense. The blowing sand was almost like needles. The smell was like kerosene AND I'd do it again.

A Boeing 474-400 LCF Dream Lifter leaving Paine Field KPAE in Snohomish County, Wa. En-route to North Carolina. A damp and wet day with the rain taking a break as the Dream Lifter headed upwards.

Ship registration N203UW. This was taken during Thanksgiving break, exactly two years ago at St.Maarten airport. This airport is famous/infamous for the beach situated right behind the displaced threshold, allow beachgoers and spotters to get very close to the takeoffs and landings. The crew on this US Airways flight were very friendly, with the first officer even giving us a wave. The takeoff was blast, quite literally. The pilots held down the brakes and waited until both Roll-Royce engines reved up to full power before letting go of the brakes. The jetblast created a ferocious sandblast that forced many beachgoers to take cover, but for someone like me, it was an one of a kind experience that I quite enjoyed, regardless of how painful it was afterwards. :)

Here is a separate shot of the beachgoers taking cover. You can even see some of the courageous ones holding onto the fence. www.flickr.com/photos/jimmy241st/6304203172/in/photostream
