The site is located on the banks of River Jordan at 380 Meters Below Sea Level, just 5 miles North of the Dead Sea, the final destination of the river.
River Jordan gives the pilgrims and tourists alike the feeling of authenticity.
This site is considered a holy place as it is where Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist an event that changed human history and marked the dawn of Christianity.
Also, there is a number of Churches in the area.
Worth visiting. better during cooler months to avoid the Jordan Valley high temperatures.

The second quadrangle at Jesus college. This part of the college was begun in 1640, the work was interrupted by the Civil war and resumed again in 1676, and it not completely finished until 1712. It's famous the Dutch gables (which is what that type of 'facade topping' is called).

На второй иконе справа от Царских Врат изображен святой равноапостольный великий князь Владимир (+ 1015, память 15 июля). Сын киевского князя Святослава Игоревича (ок. 960–972), внук святой равноапостольной киевской княгини Ольги (+ 969). Год рождения Владимира Святославича неизвестен.
На третьей иконе справа от Царских Врат изображена святая равноапостольная княгиня Ольга, в крещении Елена (умерла 11 июля 969) - великая княгиня, правила Киевской Русью после гибели мужа, князя Игоря Рюриковича (древляне привязали его к двум согнутым деревьям и разорвали), как регент с 945 примерно до 960 года. Святая Русской православной церкви, первая из русских правителей приняла христианство ещё до Крещения Руси.
Сретение Господне /встреча Иисуса Христа в Иерусалимском храме с праведным Симеоном и Анной пророчицей/ в двух картинах В.М. Васнецова.
С левой стороны иконостаса на колонне картина, на которой юная Богоматерь в темном покрове стоит у входа в храм. На девственном лице Ее сознание великой важности своего призвания. За Нею старец Иосиф с двумя белыми голубями, принесенными на жертву всесожжения.
С правой стороны иконостаса на колонне картина, на которой старец Симеон, ветхий старик с белыми волосами, держит на руках спеленатого Младенца Христа. В обращенных к Нему глазах его, - торжество исполненного Богом обета: «Ныне отпущаеши раба твоего, Владыко», шепчут его старческие уста. Немолодое, изможденное лицо пророчицы Анны сурово и скорбно - она думает о том мече, который пронзит душу Богоматери.
“When Jesus appeared before the procurator, Pilate asked Him: "Are you the King of the Jews?" To which Jesus replied: “Yes, it is I. But you said it yourself."
And when the chief priests and elders began to accuse Jesus before Pilate, He did not say a word.
Then Pilate asked Him again: "Don't You hear all these accusations against You?".
But Jesus did not answer any of the accusations. And this greatly surprised Pilate."
It is interesting that the fresco was not called "Pilate's Trial", but "Bringing the Lord to Trial". Jesus is depicted standing before Pilate in a long white rag, over which is thrown a scarlet royal cloak - the garment in which Herod, who was judging him, mockingly dressed him before returning him to Pilate's trial. Below this fresco, in a medallion, is depicted the event of the same day preceding the arrest - "The Kiss of Judas", where Jesus is in a green cloak. Jesus was tried several times that day, and the title of the fresco "Bringing the Lord to Trial" without indicating Pilate's name is involuntarily misleading.

Цікаво, що фреску назвали не “Суд Пілата”, а “Приведення Господа на суд”. При цьому Ісус зображений стоячи перед Пілатом у довгому білому рубищі, поверх якого накинуто червоний царський плащ - вбрання, в яке, насміхаючись над Ісусом, велів одягнути Ірод, який судив його, перед тим як повернути на суд Пілата.
Нижче цієї фрески в медальйоні зображено подію того ж дня - «Поцілунок Юди», де Ісус у зеленому плащі. Того дня Ісуса судили кілька разів і назва фрески «Приведення Господа на суд» без вказівки імені Пілата мимоволі вводить в оману.

Sto cercando di trovare il modo per rendere la mia presenza su Flickr sempre più "produttiva" e utile. Per questo ho pensato di tentare un esperimento:
chiedo a coloro che avranno voglia di commentere questa/queste foto di esprimere un parere il più SINCERO possibile e commentare come segue
Cosa mi piace: bla bla
Cosa non mi piace: bla bla bla
Ovviamente ognuno è libero di seguire o meno questa indicazione. Come contropartita prometto che, nei limiti del mio tempo disponibile, commenterò allo stesso modo ed in modo sincero le foto di coloro che hanno seguito l'indicazione.
Vi prego di non interpretare questo esperimento come un atto di presunzione ma sono fermamente convinto che conoscere cosa sinceramente pensano gli altri ci fa crescere fotograficamente e penso sia il motivo principale per cui vale la pena spendere del tempo su Flickr.

D. Jesús Otero Oreña left his legacy to his native town, you can see it in the Museum and Foundation that bears his name located next to the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana in Santillana del Mar.
This museum, inaugurated in 1994, is nourished by private funds donated by the author to the town in 1993.
It is a total of fifty sculptures, many of which were made in the last years of the author's life, to which we must add utensils, tools and drawings used in his creation.

One of my July crushes is on this humble church in Nonette (Auvergne). Unfortunately its indoor dilapidated state is significant, its agony long-lasting...

This photo was taken in the village of Athieme in Benin, West Africa. It was interesting to me because someone had painted a tear coming down his cheek.
A strange mix of cult-like end of the world posters proclaiming Jesus is coming soon, and a lost cat notice in the middle. I love finding strange stuff like this randomly in the city. I normally avoid shooting pattern shots since they tend to be boring, but the disjointed Jesus posters with the cat notice standing out of place makes this much more interesting then a straight pattern.
Shot Spring 2019 in downtown Toronto. Camera used was a Konica C35 with Kentmere 400 film developed in HC-110.

Last year, Jesus had a tribe of BELIEVE trash cans to keep him company. In June when I took this photo, he was a lot lonelier, and when I drove by last week, he was gone.
Ascended into heaven? Kidnapped by some drug addict to be sold for scrap and melted down? No one left to snitch ... or know the truth ... or remember.
