I saw Jess walking up the street along with her friend Jack (who will be posted at a later date). It was a pretty dull day, and the two of them really stood out on the street, with their blonde hair, and cool style.
I really liked Jess' hair, and was happy that she agreed to pose for a portrait.
The interaction was brief, but they left with a Moo card, so I hope they get the chance to check out their pictures.
Thanks Jess for being in my project- I hope you like your portrait!

I think I show people my love by photographing (or wanting to photograph) them.

It's been a while since I've taken photos of a new person that I already know so it was fun to get over the sort of awkward start and I look forward to the future!

Jess, a very talented singer asked me to do a few images of her with the view to using one as an album/insert cover photograph. This is the one she liked. This and the others were taken around the Peace Gardens and Winter Garden in Sheffield.
Jess brought me out to a GREAT location and we had a fun morning playing with new lighting equipment and rolling around i dirt and dead plants
Jess making a funny face for the camera. We were sitting here in our bedroom and I saw the light coming in the window and just though, wow. She looks so beautiful. I had to take pictures. Gosh, those eyes of hers....

This shot was taken around 1980 on my first roll of film using my brand new 35mm Yashica camera. Jessica was about 9 years old--when I came across this shot I was struck by how much Genevieve (who is 8) looks like her. Jason took the photo and I was pointing and giving him instructions since it wasn't an automatic camera--that's the explanation for my outstretched arm and hand. I'm amazed at what a good job he did--he was only 5 years old. (Scanned 30 year old photo.)
