This is for the new group Me Through Your Eyes . The premise of the group is for a person to take SOMEONE ELSE's un-edited self-portrait and edit it, so that you see the self-portrait artist through new eyes- the editor's eyes. Cool huh?
This is me through Abe's eyes. Don't I look super creeptastic???? Yowzaaaa!!!
I'm totally gonna get one from Abe and return the favor. :D

My friend Jen at the Wellington pub on Bennetts Hill Birmingham on June 2nd. 2017. We had been having an interesting discussion about music and poetry. She later read one of her poems to Stuart and myself sitting opposite her at the table. I gave her the Wordsworth book finally which I had been promising her for about a year plus Yo Yo Ma's recording of the Bach Cello Suites. The world needs characters and Jen is certainly one.
Jen's been wanting a terrarium for a while now. A few weeks ago, I got her some flowers and picked up a little gift to go with it, as well as do double duty as a vase. I knew it had terrarium potential and so I got it.
Cut to this past weekend and we finally got around to going to Paxton Gate in the Mission where we picked up what we needed for it. Jen picked out some succulents and we got some sand and some stones and a little later, voila!
I'd like to get a bonsai at some point -- it's been a bit of a desire of mine to take care of one.

Strobist information:
- Westcott Strobelite + reflector; camera right, above.
- Triggered with PW.
Model: Jen (Model Mayhem #2332884).
Note: this is the first time I've used these Westcott Strobelites. They do not recycle as fast as the Alien Bees or Einsteins. Missed quite a few shots because of that. Bummer.
No fancy lighting gears. Just a reflector and beautiful Jen. More information about this picture can be found in my blog.

How can one not stop by at the sight of two loving friends on a bench and not make a picture of them :-)
This is Jen and her dog Rocky. They were enjoying the warm evening rays of sun in Garibaldi, Oregon. At that moment I had no intention to make an interview for a potential stranger portrait. However, a minute later the opportunity offered itself and I went for it.
My family and I were passing through Garibaldi, Oregon on our way to Cannon Beach. We stopped there for lunch and on the way to the restaurant I saw Jen & her dog on that sunny bench.
While Jen & I were talking, my daughter and daughter-in-law walked into a store and Jen said that she was its owner together with her husband. Troxel's Gem & Jewelry Co.
My daughter-in-law was interested in the beautiful shells in Jen's store. I took the waiting as an opportunity to ask Jen to participate in my photo project. There was a perfect background curtain at one corner of the store where I asked Jen to stand with Rocky in her arms.
Jen was glad to pose for me. We chatted while my daughter-in-law was making her choice of shells to purchase.
"We are Christians," Jen answered my question to tell me a bit about herself.
"We encourage people to be honourable, not to pass judgement. To enjoy God's creations and worship the Creator.
"We have our stones and jewelry shop, Rock Garden & a Mini Golf. It's not about being rich, it's about making a living, raising our kids in a community, not in a city where we won't see them. We love what we do."
Jen was passionate about her life and work. She pointed out a sign on her display window. It read:
"If you break it, relax. Accidents happen."
"This tells you about us," she smiled as I picked up a beautiful shell from a shelf for another portrait.
In-between photos and conversation, Jen took care of business. My daughter-in-law bought four shells--a big one and three medium sized. While she paid and wrapped the shells, Jen handed me her card and I promised to send her photos.
Jen was friendly and kind, she recommended the best restaurant in Garibaldi and urged us to get there before closing time, which we did.
Thank you, Jen, it was a pleasure to meet you.
