Now Christmas is coming in a few days and I am ready to see my Christmas presents and I hope where are a lot for me. I have written to santa Claus and ask for a lot of new toys, and I have told that I have been a good boy , hmm . most of the time.
I wish you all a merry Christmas.
It seemed so utterly peaceful here, but when you leave this park there is a lack of peace, there is city traffic.
It was an early start for the first day of Winter today and at 4 degrees C, my fingers were so icy they were barely functional. But it was worth it, with frost on the grass and fog on the lake and the sun eventually bathing everything in gold. The ducks were happy and so was I.
The church in Jelling, which is placed between the two large mounds, has been build of chalkstone. It has been build about the year 1100.
Before this church there has on the same location been three wooden churches, of which the first was build in the period of Harald Bluetooth. The size of the first wooden church was 14 x 30 meters, and therefore somewhat larger than the present church, and it is considerably larger than other wooden churches, from which are found remains.
The present stone church had a tower added in the years of 1400.
Nature is always so beautiful, and so spiritually enriching.
The inhabitants of this park have simple purposeful lives.
A perfect day for walking around the lake with a beautiful cloudy sky and little wind. Peaceful.
In the park, there are 55 species of birds (including nine species of ducks).
After leaving this park you will be assailed by the sound of traffic.

These guys have taken over Jells Park, made it their own...good fun to stand on the little viewing platform and watch the constant back and forth. Probably wouldn't have posted this one, but it'll be the last till my lens and camera get fixed.
I love how focused they all are, bringing in the finishing touches. There was a little cormorant zipping past with some huge branches, looked almost comical... too fast and too low to the water for me...missed it both times.

Jelling is located in Vejle municipality and Region of Southern Denmark. The town is mainly famous for the Jelling stones, national monuments. Until the Municipal Reform of 2007 on 1 January 2007, Jelling was the capital of Jelling municipality. Jelling was also the only town in the former Vejle County headquarters for a bank – Jelling Sparekasse, which had its headquarters in the town until 2007 when it merged with Den Jyske Sparekasse, headquartered in Grindsted. Jelling Sparekasse's slogan was: "If king Gorm was alive today ... we would probably be the country's National Bank." One source at least claims that Jelling was the capital of an ancient kingdom of Denmark that was known as Jellund.
Jelling is an old and important historical town in the history of Denmark. In the Viking Age it served as the royal seat of the first Monarchs of the Kingdom of Denmark. Jelling is the site of a large stone ship and two large burial mounds, the Jelling stones and Jelling Church which are an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. In the North Mound, built between 958 and 959 CE (possibly for King Gorm of Denmark), an empty burial chamber was found. The South Mound was built around 970 and contains no burial. Beneath the two mounds is a large stone ship from around the end of the 9th century. Between the two mounds stands two rune stones, the Jelling stones. Near the stones, Gorm's son King Harald Bluetooth built a wooden church (965), and beneath it reinterred (965–966) the remains of his father.

I had no idea going in just how difficult it would be to manually focus Jell-O! This is the closest I could come after multiple tries over the course of a day. I will never, ever attempt this again ... Shot for the Macro Mondays theme "blue."

“Our city, these streets, I don't know why it makes me so depressed. That old familiar gloom that befalls the city dweller, regular as due dates, cloudy as mental Jell-O. The dirty facades, the nameless crowds, the unremitting noise, the packed rush-hour trains, the gray skies, the billboards on every square centimeter of available space, the hopes and resignation, irritation and excitement. And everywhere, infinite options, infinite possibilities. An infinity, and at the same time, zero. We try to scoop it all up in our hands, and what we get is a handful of zero."
