While I was taking photos of my dragon I was imagining that I'd find a romantic quotation about protective dragons and bejewelled lairs. Then I started looking and this one made me giggle, and a giggle is worth sharing, i reckon.
Calla lilies are said to come from the ancient god Hera, the wife of Zeus. In the story, Zeus brought Hercules to nurse from his wife while she was sleeping. He wanted his son to have the strength of the gods. Hera awoke and pushed the baby away from her. Drops of milk flew across the sky creating the milky way and everywhere they landed on earth, calla lilies bloomed.

I have been spring cleaning the kitchen. I have organised all my bottles of assorted mostly booze into one cupboard. Anyone who didn't know me might be forgiven for imagining that I was an alcoholic but in reality I seldom drink in the house. I have not had any alcohol since one small one to see in the new year. This amount of booze suggests I need to get my serious drinking head on!
I did it...January is complete!!! One month down, eleven more to go!

Evidence that this woodland isn't natural. The trees were planted several years ago by the landowner to give local folk like me somewhere nice to walk the dog or take photos.

Taken with a skywatcher 90mm maksutov telescope. Stack of 8 images since I have to shoot at a high ISO because of the focal length.
As I left the house today, in our first snowfall of the winter, I knew immediately that I had to go back for the camara. Here is what I saw.

Anthropologie shop in the High Street is still decorated for Christmas and the lights are on full blast, perhaps 24 hours a day. Although I see people working in some closed shops, perhaps stocktaking, it looks like no one has been back here since lockdown. I spotted this parrot in the window sporting a woolly pom-pom hat, placed in amongst the wrapped presents and near the Christmas tree.
Poppies are blooming in the garden, and insects are taking advantage. Even in winter, life goes on in nature.
