In Stokes it is stated that the long streamers of the Long-tailed Jaeger are often broken off by August. Photo taken in late September.

A juvenile LONG-TAILED JAEGER. One of a few records for Montana, this obliging bird did a few close passes by me, and at one point dived on me, making a couple short raspy barks at me! A surprising find was located at the Redmond Sewage Ponds the morning of Sept. 8, 2010. A juvenile Stercorarius parasiticus arrived and allowed for a few nice shots.

11-14-10 Pelagic Trip out of New Symyrna, FL out to the Gulfstream. The second picture shows a couple of the diagnostic features for Parasitic versus Pomarine Jaeger. The Parasitic shows white on the top of the wings while a Pomarine wouldn't and the tail is sharp and pointed where on a Pomarine it would be longer and twisted with a round end.
