Just an old jug of my Grandpa’s that I took from the orchard before Grandma sold it all those years ago.
The Jug is a hybrid of a pug and a jack russell terrier. They are bred to retain the basic features of a pug with a slightly longer nose in an attempt to reduce the breathing problems that pugs are notorious for. They have become increasingly popular over the last 10 years. The jug is a friendly, affectionate and fearless dog. Some jugs inherit the jack russell's characteristic hunting instinct. Their outgoing and energetic natures make them a wonderful family companion.
At the risk of ruining mystery, here's the scoop on this strange image: at Wincheck Pond's edge in a secluded location, a plastic gallon container with the top lopped off was left behind. It had started to blow around, so water from the pond was lapped into it prior to our recent freeze to keep it in place. Those contents froze partially, and for some reason the opening you see formed. What didn't freeze was drained and the jug was backlit against the setting sun, which was a peculiar and unpleasing pink (to me) so a switch to B&W seemed called for. Maybe too much information?

A friend gave us this jug. It was filled with maple syrup from Vermont.
A compositional gift happened when a perfectly colour co-ordinated cyclist suddenly entered the frame. But it had been the jug in the wall which had caught my attention, I wasn't ready for speedy trickery ... but I love the colour match.
I recently went to visit to Bruce's Mill for their Maple Sugar Festival. It was a great day, with wagon rides, a live animal show and maple sugar samples. This in one of my shots from the day.
