This is a glass from Russia, deisgned by famous sculpture Vera Mukhina. Dan Langille sold it for $300 at the traditional charitable auction at PGCon conference, Ottawa. Stephen Frost has won this lot !
The story behind the glass and bottle of Vodka is that we developed the new index access method VODKA for nested structures like json , which we (I, Alexander Korotkov and Teodor Sigaev) presented at this conference. I bought this glass in Moscow for 40 roubles (less than 1$).
"Douglas Crockford is a Senior JavaScript Architect at Yahoo!, well known for introducing and maintaining the JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) format. He’s a regular speaker at conferences on advanced JavaScript topics, and serves on the ECMAScript committee.
Software, on the web or elsewhere, is the most complicated stuff that humans make.
In this presentation Douglas Crockford discusses the 40-year-old Software Crisis and the grand subject of “Quality” – the processes by which we engineer quality into our software and, of course, the processes by which we often fail to do so." [CUSEC]
Douglas is also known as the author of the O'Reilly book: JavaScript: The Good Parts.

This was a scorcher of a day. Shock One came down from Brum with me old mate Touche the Bboy, and we hooked up with Json, another dustyknights (TDK) member to drop this bomb.
The day was some sort of skating, Bmxing & bboying day. I guess it was a bank holiday.
This was around 2000

Nobdy, libobd and obdsim running inside an Ubuntu Qemu on a Fedora desktop. The obdsim provider process running in one terminal window is reading a database and feeding simulated live OBDII data via the libobd API to the nobdy framework, which is in turn using a websocket to feed a QJson subscriber hosted by the Firefox browser. Since I'm a data and data-services provider, I thought it would be a great idea to incorporate Databases in my logo. I furthered the concept by presenting the contact information in JSON-format.
To the best of my knowledge, and through a few Google Searches, this has not been done before!

Title:Oil town photograph
Subject:Oil fields--Ohio
Oil industry
Petroleum industry
Ohio Economy--Science and Technology
Time Period:1890s
Place:Cygnet (Ohio)
Wood County (Ohio)
Description:This photograph shows the town and oil fields of Cygnet, Ohio, in 1890. Cygnet experienced a population boom in the 1880s as the oil industry developed in Northwest Ohio, and the town grew from a few dozen people to over 3,000. During the late nineteenth century, Ohio became one of the top oil producing states in the country and was the leading oil producer from 1895 to 1903. This oil boom brought a significant amount of growth and affluence to Wood County. By the 1910s, Ohio's oil boom declined and Ohio dropped out of the top four oil producing states in 1917.
