Ice encrusted JS No. 6067 emerging from a short tunnel with a freight from Mudanjiang. 2 March 1990.

JS 8225 with a loaded train passing sister 8190 as she starts to push back at Ba'erzhan junction in the east pit at Sandaoling on 6 January 2018.

There were 4 loading tracks on the other side of the junction one of which lead to the main conveyor fed loading bin. If all the trains in the circuit were loading off the bin the empties would sit here and wait for the preceding train to clear the junction. The loaded trains were really going for it this point as well to gain momentum for the climb ahead, it was pretty superb action!

Despite the glint from the morning sun the temperature was -12. It was so cold it made the skin on my face burn. I longed to trade places with this driver.

You know how everyone's always saying, "Seize the moment"?

[He nods yes]

I don't know, I'm kinda thinkin' it's the other way around.

You know, like, the moment seizes us.

[They trade smiles]
