Cappuccino framework & Objective-J language
I had a peek at the Cappuccino source yesterday of an Objective-J app using Cappuccino. It's an impressive piece of engineering. There is a new framework with a new language based on GNUstep. It is Open Sourced. You can download it, play with it. Hack code. And probably the best thing about it is, you can use it to build applications now.
Not next week or year. Right now!
Desktop Developers, developers, developers ...
From a developer perspective you can see the allure of learning just having to learn a new language. Everything is abstracted, HTML, CSS, even the individual browser Document Object Model or DOM. To create an application you can implement some specification you are given. Using the predefined controls (just like the desktop model) with the aid of a layout diagram. Bingo, an instant application that works on the Web. This work flow is the way a lot of desktop GUI based applications have been developed in the past and the present. Think Windows & Mac even Gtk. So for desktop developers having to brave the unknown & to learn more about the vagaries of things like DOM variation in browsers, HTTP and users on the Web using technologies like Cappuccino is a nice neat solution to a lot of hairy problems. Project managers also love it because if it is just one language (Objective-J) they can break it down into bits, farm it out to the cheapest source of coders. Get things done in a known amount of time.
Against the grain of the Web?
Then I read this article, "Cappuccino’s FlickrDemo in 45 lines of jQuery" and see a demonstration remarkably like the 280 flickr demo and think, why? The promise of "one size fits all" development model is working against the grain of the Web. How is this against the Web? Well for starters the basics of developing a Cappuccino application is bound up in a combination of predefined Web based controls and code. While there is separation of presentation and logic only software developers have a say. As a group Software developers left to their own devices are horrible in designing GUI applications without the help of others. You also loose the layering of technologies. The ability to upgrade, change or remove one layer of technology as you see fit. The developers of course have done this on purpose. Traded flexibility for simplicity. They have reduced the complexity of designing desktop like applications and distilled it back to code and controls. Good for building applications on time, budget. Bad for users.
Comparisons
You can see a side by side comparison of JQuery demo remarkably like the 280 flickr demo. Having said all this, Cappuccino is designed specifically for desktop applications to be delivered to users across the web. But loosing the advantages of well designed Web-Apps for this style of development (mono language & gui) is not a compelling enough reason to abandon current development practices.
For me anyway.

Talking America: www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/indepth/talking_america.shtml
Blog post: dharmafly.com/blog/talkingamerica
Talking America
Excitingly, not long after we built the award-winning Bangladesh River Journey application for the BBC World Service, they asked us for another helping of social media expertise.
What you can do with social media
Talking America uses maps, pictures, video, audio podcasts, blog posts and other user-generated snippets to bring a journey alive. In this case, we built a mini content-management system for the journalists, a system to pull in the latest Flickr photos from the bus, and a colourful map to display it all.
Mapping Microformats
(For the technically-inclined)
The mapping application uses jQuery and Sumo, which is a JavaScript microformats parser written by Dan Webb, who also worked on the front-end of the site. If you look at the site without JavaScript, you'll see that all the info is already present on the page, written up in microformats and ready to be plotted on the map.
Read more, on the Dharmafly blog:
The JQuery team failed to engage properly with their community - I've blogged about this here: philwhitehouse.blogspot.com/2008/09/listening-to-your-com...

Latest in a series of attempts at producing a logo for JeniT and the rdfQuery project. Like the name, this is a smooshing of the W3C RDF icon with the jQuery swoosh. I couldn't find an SVG version of the jQuery logo so played around with a free version of Zurich Black. The colour is a brighter version of jQuery blue. The smaller versions look better here 'cos the text is anti-aliased.
Any ideas for improving it would be greatly appreciated!

Yahya Al Bishri website
RUBICS Business Solutions
Yahya Al Bishri website one of the most interesting project I worked in. under the management of RUBICS Business Solutions.
Yahya Al Bishri Born in Abba, Southern Saudi Arabia, on the 13th of August 1962, he had originally intended to become a journalist, and after working for a period of time in a press office, he realised that he had a passion for fashion design. Yahya'a destiny would take a sudden turn. After graduating with a degree in Fashion Design in France followed by Italy, Yahya returned to Jeddah and open his first atelier of design
Website overview
When I worked in this website which is a personal portfolio for a fashion designer, I explore what some of the principles of fashion design are, before I can truly understand the depth of this occupation. With the principles of fashion design mastered, may be on my way to creating designs that surpass even the brilliant minds.
Increasing Yahya business
There is no better way to get your fashion design business the exposure it deserves then with a great fashion website. I'm looking to opens the doors to the possibilities of increasing Yahya business by the latest tools and techniques exists in the industry.
We all love fashion
One thing is for certain and that is people from all over love fashion and new fashion trends. Fashion exists in every aspect of life these days, magazines, movies, ads, etc.
Fashion websites should be elegant and functional
Also I try to set his fashion business up with tools that allow him to update his own product online, showcase his models, and help promote his brand or product online directly from his website. Start by design 3 different samples. Then start develops the approved one, Converted to XHTML/CSS with jQuery Lightbox and jQuery Thumbnail gallery slider. Finally I made a flash intro combined with a flash slide show component to show up the best designs of him. The web design solution I develop for him is a custom one and I take great pride in working with Yahya one of the top names in the industry.
Not only web design helps Yahya in the fashion industry. RUBICS Business Solutions.services for models set the industry standard to impressive looks and functionality. Custom model web development solutions allow for visually impressive online galleries, unique spec systems, and content delivery sure to impress.
