Eddie Vedder de Pearl Jam, en el BBK Live 2010...

This is an old army buddy of mine, Lance Berges, and myself jamming behind our barracks in 1985. We would play on the weekends and people in our company would stop by and listen to us, so it was kind of like we were putting on live shows.

We kept up contact with each other several years after getting out of the Army, but over time, he must have moved and I don't know where he lives now. The last address I had for him was Lakeland, Florida, so if you see this Lance, please contact me.

Taken with a Polaroid instant camera I picked up while in the Army. I've forgotten whatever happened to it or what model it was.

The guitars we were playing were both Tackamine acoustic guitars. We got to talking about music and guitars and wound up calling a local music store and told them to bring a selection of acoustic guitars to us on the base. They did, and we each picked out a good one and paid cash for them. I remember we also requested they bring a couple capos so we could get those, too. I have some recordings I made of the two of us jamming.

With the home made jam, I made "jam drops"...a great biscuit!

Read about these and see more pics on my blog.

‘It must come sometimes to “jam to-day,”’ Alice objected.

‘No, it can’t,’ said the Queen. ‘It’s jam every other day: to-day isn’t any other day, you know.’

‘I don’t understand you,’ said Alice. ‘It’s dreadfully confusing!’

... Alice in Wonderland

We are on vacation, so I couldn't snap a photo of my home made peach jam, and I had to liberate this packet from a favorite lunch place.

I thought about the Saturday Night Live satire of "with a name like Smuckers it's got to be good!, too! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht7Jmp4tZsk

Make a comeback with regular paper. Love to blend with my dear OMS :) This is the first time I drew jam. The shiny and glittering jam and jar took me very long to complete, but it was worth the efforts. Unfortunately, shadow on the dish shows not clear as it is in the drawing.

Thanks to Sally Robertso for this nice reference photo.

Jam Airport (KNR), some 1,675 km south-southeast of Tbilisi, and the city of Jam, in Bushehr Province, Iran, are seen here on a flight from Doha, Qatar to Tbilisi, Georgia. This shot brings back good memories: I flew an SE-3160 Alouette III helicopter supporting seismic oil exploration in rugged terrain beyond Jam in 1975.

Firstly, I must say a very big thankyou to Tim Best for putting me on to this magic little shooting location.

I confess I am a bit of a photo site stalker and when I see great images of places I haven't been before and that are still pretty close to home, I am like a kid in a candy store.

To spite being hammered by strong winds all day, I am very pleased I went as I got a great range of cloud forms as a cold front approached later in the afternoon.

The above image is where my day started and I was anticipating the sky being a blanket of dull white and considered calling it a day after an hour or so. A glimpse of cotton ball cloud in the distance inspired me to hang around, go for a drive, and come back later as the cold front got closer.

I think the best shots were taken at the end of the day, but I haven't got to processing them yet so they will gradually hit my stream over coming days.

I will definitely return here (hopefully when not quite so windy).

Cheers,

Ross
