Actually the primary target was up the road on the left, a huge bull elk (shown in comments). I was first one, didn't take long before more stopped.
His girls were gathered around my car paying us no mind. The bull was warier keeping more distance. They must get tired of this.
Taken just north of Jasper AB. The place to be during the rut in the fall.

This ice jam went 20 feet on to the beach - there was that much strength pushing it ashore. In 3 days it got warmer, the winds changed and it was gone!

- im Herbst 2015 gab es ungewöhnlich viele Kornelkirschen, ich konnte sie nicht alle den Vögeln überlassen ... und an grauen Tagen ist Marmelade kochen eine farbenfrohe Alternative;)
- in this autumn there were so much of these wild fruits, I couldn't leave them all to the birds ... and on grey days nothing is better than treating colourful fruits to jam;)
