11th July 2016 - Northrop F-5E Tiger II 'J-3038' of the Swiss Airforce wearing the special tail fin of the 75th anniversary of Staffel 19. This was the replacement jet for the patrouille suisse after they lost one of their reglar airfames to an accident.

J was a difficult letter, it turns out there aren't many options for species beginning with J near me. The wild jasmine, Jasminum fruticans, was the only viable option, and luckily I knew exactly where to find it, on top of the limestone hills here in the village. So yesterday I went up there in the afternoon and was pleased to see that they are just starting to bloom. Good timing!

I believe this is the same Monarch caterpillar from an earlier Mon-arch shot. You may recognize the dead black aphids. I could spend lots of time in the Swamp milkweed patch spraying soap suds on the aphids and still have more. I'm sure the ratio of predators to prey gets askew everywhere but it seems more acute when one species is in decline or another increasing.

EJE 668 has pulled into the wheel shop with its smoke still holding on strong at the top of the building. J 662 was sitting just behind me on the other side of the transfer table pit.

Captured in front of J&J Custom auto body repair shop on the Salmon River Highway in McMinnville, Oregon. 4 wheel drive and looks to be in terrific condition. I can't put a make or year with this truck. Anybody know what it is??
The Henry J was built by the Kaiser-Frazer Corporation as an affordable, inexpensive car to attract less affluent buyers. Originally sold for no more than $1300 and now selling for about 10 times its original window sticker. That is a nice restored model, not this one.

At one point, catching a pair of J's wasn't all that rare but nowadays, it rarely happens at all, especially when both locomotives still retain the original EJ&E paint.
