Visiting my sister in Ithaca, and wanted to check out the famous Buttermilk Falls, but I wasn't able to get any decent shots due to the falls being still partially frozen so I wasn't able to do a nice long exposure. This was taken at an unknown area. I was driving along the road and saw this as I was driving by. There was yellow caution tape all over the area because of the ice. I cautiously crossed it and realized we were standing on a giant iceberg.

We went to Elmira to pick up my camera that I had repaired and this is the scene I snapped on the way home. We were on Connecticut Hill which is approx. 1400 feet above the city.

wishing us all that our road could always be long, full of adventure and full of knowledge ...

Ithaca

When you set out on your journey to Ithaca,

pray that the road is long,

full of adventure, full of knowledge.

The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops,

the angry Poseidon -- do not fear them:

You will never find such as these on your path,

if your thoughts remain lofty, if a fine

emotion touches your spirit and your body.

The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops,

the fierce Poseidon you will never encounter,

if you do not carry them within your soul,

if your soul does not set them up before you.

Pray that the road is long.

That the summer mornings are many, when,

with such pleasure, with such joy

you will enter ports seen for the first time;

stop at Phoenician markets,

and purchase fine merchandise,

mother-of-pearl and coral, amber and ebony,

and sensual perfumes of all kinds,

as many sensual perfumes as you can;

visit many Egyptian cities,

to learn and learn from scholars.

Always keep Ithaca in your mind.

To arrive there is your ultimate goal.

But do not hurry the voyage at all.

It is better to let it last for many years;

and to anchor at the island when you are old,

rich with all you have gained on the way,

not expecting that Ithaca will offer you riches.

Ithaca has given you the beautiful voyage.

Without her you would have never set out on the road.

She has nothing more to give you.

And if you find her poor, Ithaca has not deceived you.

Wise as you have become, with so much experience,

you must already have understood what Ithacas mean.

After nine long months of work and plenty of issues along the way, I finally got my Ithaca 37 finished. It's certainly no IF-88, but it seemed like the perfect Blackjack gun when I got it.

In addition to an improved version of my heat shield modification, I've also machined out an entirely custom glass breaker on the end of the barrel and surface ground all of the receiver screws flush. In the end, the entire gun was once again Cerakoted in my usual graphite black color scheme.

Looks like a wet time ahead for us. We need the rain!

The Ithaca shipwreck on the gravel bank of the Hudson Bay, near Churchill, Manitoba, Canada.

You can only walk to the wreck on low tide and under the protection of a guide with a gun - it is polar bear country! We encountered a mother and a cub on our way.

Man, this was a tough job to get right in processing. Hazy/blue skies at sunset over Ithaca Falls, in Ithaca, NY. You can still see a bit of the warm sunset light on the upper portions of the cliffs. I waited until the light was off the falls, where it would have been problematic.

Ithaca from the mountain road on the east of Kefalonia, near the village of Komitata (on the right of the shot). The island behind Ithaca on the left is Lefkada (Lefkas) and you can just about see mainland Greece on the far horizon.

Ithaca Falls is a waterfall located within the city of Ithaca, New York. It is the last of a series of waterfalls along the hanging valley formed where Fall Creek intersects the glacial trough of Cayuga Lake. The falls are in an amphitheater formed by freezing and thawing of the weak shale which makes up most of the gorge walls. The splash pool, and the creek just below the falls, are a popular spot for fly fishing.

The area around the base of the falls was owned by Cornell University for many years, before being sold to the City of Ithaca in 2000 as a part of environmental cleanup. The area has been a popular, if dilapidated, park for many years; currently it is undergoing a major redesign and rebuild. In June 2016, the Ithaca Common Council voted to demolish a house directly north of the falls and add the parcel to the park. The city had acquired the house after the owner failed to pay property taxes.

The falls is present as the stylized "I" in the "Ithaca is Gorges" logo.
