The main article in Progress Spring 1959, the Unilever house magazine, is on Italian Industrial Design and the covers are by the well-known Italian artist and designer Eugenio Carmi. They depict a collage of objects at a time when the standard of industrial design in Italy was highly regarded.

Built in 1893, this historical landmark in Tacoma, Washington serves as a reminder of Tacoma's booming transcontinental railroad past. The architecture is of Italian design mimicking the great buildings of Florence, whose seaports Tacoma wanted to imitate as well. This building is one of the top attractions in Tacoma and last summer I actually went inside it to try to get to the top for views of the city. I was unsuccessful as they have the top blocked off, but walking up the old creaking and cracking stairways was a very nervous experience. It was definitely at this moment coming back down that I appreciated modern architecture. What I find really interesting now is I have read about several ghost sightings in the building, and I had no clue. Needless to say, I will not be returning inside. Enjoy!

Built in Italy by OSI and sold as FIAT OSI 1200, it was simply rebadged NECKAR in Germany.

In France, it was imported by the big network of CHARDONNET dealers, who were already in charge of all the other FIAT derivatives : ZASTAVA, AUTOBIANCHI and NECKAR.

Bertone designed this pickup for BMW.

The car is based on a BMW series 5, but with the 6 cylinder 3,2 Litre of the M3 (series E36), giving 320 HP DIN.

As you can see, there is no BMW badge on the car, even if the grille vaguely reminds of the legendary German firm.

Bertone was actually trying to captivate the attention of another car maker from America : General Motors.

The Italian designers were trying to suggest a new El Camino.

But GM did not pay attention to it... or at least they pretended.

Because three years later the American firm shamelessly introduced a new concept car : the Chevrolet SSR. With its production starting in 2003, they simply took the whole idea of Bertone, adding the V8 engine of the Corvette.

October 2018, visiting San Remo, Italy. Highly Recommended. It is beautiful and fascinating at the same time to visit this gorgeous city by the sea.

I spent this week end with the new friend who came to visit me: he's not the man of my life but I can say he's really a nice guy and I had a lot of fun and laugh! :)))

Yesterday we went to town, the weather is much cooler now but the sun is (thank God!) still shining, so I could take some very good shot with a great light like this one I took in this objects of design shop.

I hope you all are having a great sunday!!!!

I want to dedicate this shot to a flickr's friend who wrote for me a very very very nice testimonial, Amit Menachem
