In my Autumn/Winter 2010 collection the inspiration was nomad travel and adventures.
For the Spring/Summer 2011, I based this collection on my recent journey to my motherland. Each stride I took, I embraced my culture, my traditions, my believes, those that paved the way for me and others and most importantly my heritage. Whilst on my journey, I came to a conclusion that we have several rich cultures that we have yet to embrace, and one I found particularly interesting was that of the body adornment.
In Several cultures humans articulate their identity and position through body ornaments. This collection for spring/summer 2011, celebrates these diverse cultures, the human body and form. The collection is created with the intention to flatter ones assets, create and establish a sense of ultra feminine appeal when on the body, as it drapes and highlights our beauty which is also from within.
Like the Masai tribe uses a change in appearance to mark a very important stage in their life, which in many ways could be manipulated to add depth and context to a piece. For this collection, I wanted to focus on movement by introducing designs that drape or hang on the body.
The jewelleries from this entire collection is not intended to wear you,
but to move with both your body and soul.
All created with all created with Love using Swaroski crystal beads,
African beads from the Masai tribe in Kenya and Nigeria, vintage chains and
findings
Hopefully this collection will make you smile like it did to mine.
