Today was my first THREE MILE swim day since wayyyy back when I was in my early twenties! Last November I increased my distance to two miles on the days I swim and that is where I will normally stay due to factors such as time restraints, crowded pools, Carol having a caregiver, etc. But today everything came together for me to add an extra mile for this day and swim 110 lengths of the Olympic size pool (35 lengths equal a mile so 3 Miles are 105 lengths. I did a little more.)
I normally swim in the farthest lane shown.
Qutub Shahi Tombs, Hyderabad, India
The tombs of the seven Qutub Shahi rulers in the Ibrahim Bagh (garden precinct) are located close to the famous Golkonda Fort in Hyderabad, India. The galleries of the smaller tombs are of a single storey while the larger ones are two storied. In the centre of each tomb is a sarcophagus which overlies the actual burial vault in a crypt below. The domes were originally overlaid with blue and green tiles, of which only a few pieces now remain.
They lie about a kilometre north of the outer perimeter wall of Golkonda Fort and its Banjara Darwaza (Gate of the Gipsies, or itinerant merchants), amidst the Ibrahim Bagh. The tombs form a large cluster and stand on a raised platform. The tombs are domed structures built on a square base surrounded by pointed arches, a distinctive style that blends Persian, Pashtun and Hindu forms. The tombs are structures with intricately carved stonework and are surrounded by landscaped gardens.
The tombs were once furnished with carpets, chandeliers and velvet canopies on silver poles. Copies of the Quran were kept on pedestals and readers recited verses from the holy book at regular intervals. Golden spires were fitted over the tombs of the sultans to distinguish their tombs from those of other members of the royal family.
I have upped my swimming on my pool days to two miles (70 lengths/35 laps) in hopes that I will reach 100 miles in 2017 by the end of the year. I haven't swam this much since I was in my twenties. I believe swimming is the ideal exercise for us older folks... if you have a year-round pool like the Olympic size noncongested community pool I use. Note: Since July I do cheat. I use a snorkel and fins which helps with the deep breathing which is good on the heart!

Southern House is a landmark office building close to the centre of Croydon. It has recently gone through a rebranding and in order to keep up with the fast pace of change in Croydon, it is undergoing refurbishment inside and out.
The landscape scheme aims to integrate the site into the surrounding area with particular emphasis on pedestrian movement through the site. Walkways linking the southern and northern towers to the wide range of local amenities as well as the public transport hub at East Croydon Station aim to inspire people to use their feet and more sustainable public transport.
Strong emphasis is being placed on lighting with a luminaires being suspended on a catenary system leading pedestrians safely along pathways. Bespoke sculptural planters and feature walls would provide structure through the site creating break out spaces for relaxation.
