During this time of social distancing and isolation, I feel sometimes like a Dingo at Au Zoo.

Apparently, I posed for this picture in the middle of a mosquito farm but it was ultimately worth it.

Not to sure about the snow in this one. Anyway part of a college project (Isolation)

Ok so I normally don't do anything to my photos that I can't do in Lightroom, mainly because I'm something of a photoshop dunce. I'm trying to experiment and learn more and today's experiment was adding motion blur. I'm really unhappy with the effect around the edge of the boat (it looks really raggedy when you zoom in) and I think that's mainly because of my lack of skill in use of the selection tools to select the boat in the first place - any hints or tips for me from more experienced users I would much appreciate it!

Eastern bumble bees often take breaks from gathering pollen and perch somewhere to "primp" It was early morning and this one perched on the front of our white RV, making a very interesting photo. Only minor exposure adjustments and a crop. Bombus impatiens.

Kelong (or Kellong), mainly found in waters of Indonesia, is an offshore platform, constructed by fishermen using wooden planks and tree trunks bound together by rattan. While it is mainly used for fishing, some are built into houses and accommodations in resorts.

Going to extremes for a bit of fishing during the isolation mandate.

me rompo y me desgarro a medio camino.

Soy capaz de mover esas manecillas

pero lo único que hago es devolverme mi instinto asesino.

A veces pienso lo, jodidamente, precioso que es sentirse maldito.

Time to trawl the archives again, the weather forecast here is not good at the moment so I like to remind myself of the good times, this image was made at Sandymouth bay, Cornwall.

Pretty nice Rosso Mugello FF braving the torrential rains we've had today in LA. Ruined some plans, but this still came out quite nicely. My second one in two days, and I'm surprised to say that I'm beginning to like 'em!

Colors are all messed up unless you view on black, so yeah...

This one was shot after a storm passed over Mobile Bay, Alabama. It's amazing to be in the middle of a populated area, yet be totally alone out here on the water, with a view of nothing but water, clouds, and these amazing piers.

After weeks of driving around the Valley, I finally came across a solitary tree with an interesting foreground and an uncluttered background. I can rest now.

Any age has to be kept busy.

Single tree in monochrome. Cavedale, Castleton. Nikon F4 film camera.

I'm not sure I could do a whole series of shots on fly screens but we have at least another 5 weeks of ISO so who knows.

A group of us were in Malta on March 12th. The day before flights to all European countries (bar the UK) were cancelled. When we got to the airport it was surreal. Hardly anyone. But on the last morning in the villa, I shot this pano with the Mamiya AFD, the Phase One P45+ back, and the 80mm 1.9. To suggest the depth of field is insane on the 80mm is understating it. One touch and you are out, but I love the look of this lens. We actually moved an alternative sofa in behind Layla and all the images with that 'side' - that is - her and the sofa were just slightly soft, so I had taken this image earlier and worked with that - even if it is actually just a touch higher than the image on the right.

Sometimes we feel isolated from others. While other times isolation is needed to properly deal with others.

I recall this man walking in this place full of people. I turned to follow him through my lens. Wondering of his choice to walk through and past people, to wander along jagged clumps of ice, across a frozen lake toward an unseen destination of subject to attach dependent clauses of fact or process.

i·so·la·tion is a noun.

Isolation is pronounced: /ˌīsəˈlāSH(ə)n/.

Isolation, according to the dictionary, is the process or fact of isolating or being isolated.

ISOLATION.

Daylight seeps into the hallway from one of the isolation rooms in this Alabama Asylum constructed in the late 1800's.

The shadows on the way are caused by slats in the doors of the isolation rooms. These slats allowed nurses to check on patients and also allow air flow into the room during very hot and humid summer months many years before air handling units were installed.

March 20, 2020

Social distancing officially starts today. Every day going forward, a photo from the archives – a little project to keep my mind off the scary state of the world. I am very lucky... Canada has not been hit hard yet and I have no sign of illness, am in a safe place with my family and (hopefully) the worst I face is boredom. Stay safe everyone.

I photographed this forlorn looking young man in the narrow alleys of Cholon in Saigon. Technically not a great photograph, but I think it makes a strong picture.
