These three photos are from a short hike I took yesterday in Show Low. Nothing too special, i had the ND filter on at first but took it off later. I used my tripod on all of these since I knew I would be having such a small aperture (slow shutter speed as well). I wasn't able to find a good spot for a trail leading off into the forest at this spot but that's okay because I like what I got!

Shot at Pescadero State Beach. This is such a beautiful place with a lot of interesting rock formations. I love clouds but I honestly think theyre a bit too thick at the time I took the photo. I guess it gives me a stronger reason to go back before summer sets in.

I bit of a climb for this shot, but I think I picked the right day for it. DRS' 66424 leads a DIT 68004 on a Carlisle Yard - Crewe Basford Hall engineers working. 6K05 is seen here crossing Blea Moor and Batty Moss and is even dwarfed by the otherwise impressive Ribblehead Viaduct. Taken from the top of Park Fell.

Nearly 80 40 foot containers (most two high) protect Wakefield Avenue in Sumner from further rock falls. Behind these (to the left) are houses, church, bowling club, RSA (Returned Servicemens Association) and other community buildings that have been isolated now for nearly two years now. On the right upper third boundary (just behind two stand alone 40' containers) can be seen the large boulder/bit of cliff that came down and into the RSA killing one person I believe.

Isolated House, Digbeth, near the canal. An example of the wholesale demolition I lamented in another picture, but somehow this tiny house, 34 Belmont Row, has survived, all the more remarkable as it looks as if it was shoe-horned in, in the first place! It's possibly a lock-keeper's cottage. Now what it needs is a few neighbours.

Victoria, BC opened a new 24/7 transitional housing facility on Tuesday, Feb. 23 to house 50 homeless campers from tent city.
The new tenants at Choices Transitional Home will have the option of staying in new tents erected on the grounds or inside the former prison, which opened in 2002 but was closed by the provincial government as a cost-cutting measure in 2015.
The agency running this new shelter required extra manpower to speedily ready the facility - they attracted few volunteers. The vocal NIMBY crowd who fought in hundreds to block the proposed city managed tent city, the vocal anti-tent city internet warriors, the Central Middle School PAC, and the Christ Church Cathedral School Board failed to volunteer their services.
The former jail offers many of the basics required to exist but is NOT housing.
The recent and temporary and limited options from the Provincial Government are not enough to meet the needs of all members of the street and homeless community.
Those with bad experiences with institutions and/or confinement will likely find the former jail to be an issue. On the surface the location may appear near idyllic but it's not convenient for many services this community must access - it definitely isolated, and forever blanketed with the drone of the fast moving traffic on the bordering highway. The fire pit intended to replace the sacred fire at the Super InTent City will likely be gas fuelled, which I suspect may not meet the needs of our indigenous community.
There is a housing and poverty crisis in BC, in Canada, and shelters, transitional housing, and food banks are no solution.
Disability, old-age, unemployment, and welfare benefit/pension rates must be increased - and housing with dignity must be available for all.
