Edited Perseverance image of an isolated rock that seems to be weathering, on the rim of Jezero Crater. Color/processing variant.
Since returning to a Leica M camera, first with an M10 Monochrom, then later, switching to my current M11 two years ago, I have taken a lot of test shots to both re-learn my rangefinder skills, and also to test different lenses. Until now I had not bothered to publish them, since there was nothing really exotic about them. It’s not like I visited some amazing place or saw some interesting people or whatever.
But then I realized these photos might be of interest to people who are considering buying the same lens I used to take them. So if there is some value to others, then why not put them up on Flickr…
Please don’t feel compelled to comment… Most of these images are for informational purposes, so people get a sense for how a specific lens renders. Some of the photos are of the same scene, shot with different lenses, typically on different days.
Hope they are useful…

Last day of the month always means I am here until the last deal goes through. So, to pass the time...
Standing isolated on a 120m hilltop overlooking Berlin, this one time NSA listening station kept an ear on East Berlin and the Soviet Union. The location, colloquially known as Teufelsberg is a vast man-made hill constructed from the bombed ruins of Berlin following the Second World War. Operational details of the site are still shrouded in secrecy, but adventurous tourists can trek to the rather indiscreet site and wander inside the once top secret radomes, housing the large radio antennae intercepting all manner of radio and satellite communications.
While the site is now in a massive state of disrepair, it has been used as a form of street art gallery and has housed many an illegal German techno rave!

No beach access at the bottom of the stairs here. Nope. And that is just fine with the bird in the shallow lagoon.

Turbulent flow, although chaotic, is organized into coherent structures. We use a method called Direct Lyapunov Exponent to investigate one of these structures commonly found in turbulent wall-bounded flows: an isolated hairpin vortex. This image is in a plane that is a constant distance from a wall on which this structure sits. The light color outlines the hairpin vortex.
