Die Islander waren nicht immer christlich. Als sie sich zum Christentum bekehrten soll der Gode (Priester) um 1000 n.Chr. die letzten heidnischen Götterbilder in diesen Wasserfal geworfen haben. Daher der Name Götterfall

Minamijima is a limestone island located south of Chichijima. It embraces an emerald green pond that is popular for boat tours. On this day, however, mood of the island was different from tourist brochures.
The pond can be accessed through a narrow channel as seen in the right. It is a doline of Karst topography.
"Spirit Island"
Maligne Lake, Jasper National Park.
The island is a spiritual place for the Stoney Nakoda First Nation, who believe mountains are physical representations of their ancestors. The fact that Spirit Island is surrounded on three sides by the same mountain range is very rare and makes it particularly significant to the Stoney. The color of the water is different at Spirit Island than where cruises depart at the Maligne Lake docks. The further south on the lake you travel, the closer you get to glaciers, and the more emerald-colored the water becomes due to the presence of rock flour from the glaciers.
For this image, I smoothed out the water to give it a more peaceful environment. This was one of top three bucket list locations from this adventure. Moraine Lake at sunrise, walking on a glacier on the Icefield's Parkway, and Spirit Island in Jasper NP. We ended up driving over 4k miles from KC to the upper parts of Alberta, Canada. What an adventure.
The early start certainly paid off and we had the entire island to ourselves to wonder around and shoot the endless compositions this place has to offer. Beaches, lighthouses, towers, old church ruins and wild horses roaming this place is magical.
This little stone boathouse with the golden sand and Twr Bach Lighthouse to the right of it just made for a really nice image in my opinion.
Please feel free to favourite and follow.

Difficult to gage in a photo, Wizard Island is roughly 316 acres of land (or half a square mile), protruding from the surface of Crater Lake.
Named by William Gladstone Steel in 1885, the island is actually a volcanic cinder cone that rises from within the caldera formed by the last major eruption of Mount Mazama nearly 8,000 years ago. A series of smaller eruptions, which took place over several hundred years formed a number of cinder cones, though Wizard Island is the only one that is above the normal level of the lake surface.
The highest point on the island is 6,933 ft above sea level, but a mere 755 feet above the surface of the lake. Boat tours of the lake operate during summer months, allowing visitors to hike the island, but no overnight camping is permitted.

Isola del Giglio as viewed from Cala Piccola on Monte Argentario in Tuscany. This island is where the cruise ship Costa Concordia capsized and sank in 2012, claiming 32 lives. Sadly, another life was lost during the salvage operation.
Vaseux Lake is one of the smaller lakes in The Okanagan Valley but it seems to have the largest island.

Llanddwyn Island is just off Newborough beach, and can be accessed at low tide. The Island has several beautiful coves, with incredible views across the Snowdonia mountain range. There are two towers on the island, the larger original lighthouse and the smaller, which is a day-mark, marking the entrance to Pilot's Cove, and which now displays the light. Wild ponies graze on the island throughout the year.
