A Cool interactive slide. And yes, I climbed it and slid down... Twice!
The reddish stains are microorganisms which have embedded themselves within the matrix of the stone.
The outdoor grotto is in the bottom right. The allee of linden trees on the top right was neat. Looking out from the window on the second floor (beneath the triangular pediment) it appeared like you could walk out onto the trees because they were so dense and evenly cut.
This exhibit, at the 2014 Philadelphia Flower Show, was inspired by Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi's work which juxtaposes tradition with the power of organic shapes. The vignettes draw the eye to a visionary landscape where a bed of green creates a modern pond, dashed with color. Above, two dynamic botanical sculptures add life and structure. The bells played concerts at noon and 5 PM. The afternoon performance was of popular music, which was fun to hear on bells.
The garden bouncing off the windows.
In his ... gardens ... Noguchi achieved subtle ... syntheses of nature with the man-made, fusing organic and geometric, balancing intuition with intellect. 'California Scenario' seamlessly integrates them. ... it is an enclosed space adjacent to an office building, 'California Scenario' appears open and spacious; the proportional relationship of the asymmetric pyramid to the smaller rocks and plants creates a sense of vastness and scale beyond the actual dimensions of the garden. Local desert stones unify this environment in color and texture. The channel of water running through the center contrasts with, and enhances, the viewer's awareness of the surrounding dryness. The pronounced individuality of elements of the Beinecke courtyard has here matured into a cohesive whole; sculpture and environment are one.

The house really doesn't look all that massive from any particular angle. The architect did a good job of breaking up its bulk, and the landscape designer did an equal job of creating distinct "rooms" and spaces in the garden.
The architecture on the house is fairly restrained...except for parts of it. The garens were designed to create well-framed views like this.

The totality is his metaphor for the world, an expression of "the notion of the universality of art, especially sculpture, or that which has to do with our environment". This museum preserves the working atmosphere of his studio and also aims to maintain archives which are open to scholarly research. We invite our visitors to experience and enjoy Noguchi's world through his art and through his unique and timeless interpretation of those eternal verities we all seek.
