Under the water
It's cold and it's grey
My torrid autumn
Another season decays
Open up the hollow
And my walls come down
I'll tell you it's a problem
Just when no one's around
But then
I know what's wrong
God you complicated everything
I know you're gone, gone, gone
This is where I will draw my line
I will draw my line
Burning my cathedrals
'Cause I don't pray anymore
Look at all these people
These tragic little people
They're smiling and they don't know what for
But then
I know what's wrong
God you complicated everything
I know you're gone, gone, gone
This is where I will blur my line
I will blow my line
Our houses are haunted
Torn and deserted
They're made of my secrets and shame
Baby I want it
But I know I'm not worth it
I can't even sell you my name
But then
I know you're wrong
God, you took it all away from me
I know you're gone, gone, gone
This is where I will cross my line
I am crossing my line
.... between "I like you" and "I love you? "

When you like a flower, you just pluck it.
But when you love a flower, you water it daily.

I've been looking at some tutorials on how to make the moon look more colourful in photos. This is a single frame, not stacked, taken just now 25th Feb 2021.
Here is another pretty reblooming iris from my garden.
I have been super busy with work this Spring and have tried to spend my free time outside when I can. I have fallen really behind in posting anything and more especially in keeping up with my friends here on flickr. I hope to catch up with you all soon. May is the month I spend the most time outside looking for wildlife to photograph and document and I haven't been too motivated in photography this year. I usually don't try to post more than a few photos at a time but I am going to post a bunch today.
Thanks to everyone who likes and or comments on my photos! I really appreciate your support. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!
This is Gracie Jo, the semi-feral cat we are trying to coax indoors. Today's forecast was for a "wintry mix", lots of wind, etc. At lunch time, Gracie Jo ran pretty quickly to the back door (before I could take her food up to her heated area in the workshop), so it seemed like a good time to try whisking her inside. I got her into the laundry room without her biting or scratching me. Just about that time the wind picked up and the rain turned to sleet & I think Gracie Jo must have been okay with being inside for a little while.
This is a necklace I made some years ago when I was into making jewellery. It provided a good bit of bling for Smile on Saturday's "Bling-bling" theme. HSoS!
Landscape photography is all about patience, luck, and getting over poor choices... This shot was a nearly missed occasion : after I setted up my gear for a nice golden hour shot, thinking there was too much cloud to get any sunrise light, I did not have time to move around when, against all odds, the sunrise turned out to be beautifull. I then waited one hour without the least bit of light coming through. When I packed up my gear the sun finaly broke through and I rushed everything back out of the bag to get this shot... Not so much golden light but still : low angle sun beams hitting the lighthouse and the bridge ! Hope you like it !
Bryggen, also known as Tyskebryggen, is a series of Hanseatic heritage commercial buildings lining up the eastern side of the Vågen harbour in the city of Bergen, Norway. Bryggen has been on the UNESCO list for World Cultural Heritage sites since 1979
Fountains Abbey is one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. It is located approximately 3 miles (5 km) south-west of Ripon in North Yorkshire, near to the village of Aldfield. Founded in 1132, the abbey operated for 407 years, becoming one of the wealthiest monasteries in England until its dissolution, by order of Henry VIII, in 1539. Wikipedia

This is one interesting bird that we have only spotted at Elk Grove Park. The domestic Swan Goose came from Asia. the Swan Goose, native to eastern Eurasia and sometimes called a Chinese goose. A domestic swan goose usually has a large knob at the base of the bill (the wild form lacks this). It also can show a white patch behind the bill. It varies from wild type coloring (mostly gray with a dark line down the back of the otherwise white neck) to pure white. This species is very territorial and had no fear walking up to our dog Louie and hissing. Yes, our Louie got the message and backed off very quickly.
Today is my dad's birthday...he died many years ago but he left me with his love for nature...all things wild and untamed. We found a baby quail one day when we were hiking in the summer. It had been blown away from its brood .. .must have been days old. He let me scoop it up and try to keep it alive. I could not do so, but I loved trying and felt instantly connected to the unending grasp that wildlife would have over me ...something that has never left...thanks, dad
thanks always for stopping by to visit and share....risa
This is called Yarn Bombing... and at the Stony Brook Museum, there are many trees that are covered in this colorful and very time consuming art form...
If you have never heard of this before, I thought I'd share... if you Google Yarn Bombing, you will see this is done all over the world!!
Iford is a small village on the border between Somerset and Wiltshire, England, particularly famous for Iford Manor. Further on, the road leads over a medieval bridge spanning the River Frome.

Chapel Rocks is in Squantum, south of Boston. It's a remarkable location near Nickerson beach that I hadn't visited in a while. I went there yesterday at dawn, and it didn't disappoint. In the background, you can discern the Boston Harbor Islands. At low tide, a sand spit forms that allows you to walk to Thompson Island.
This is once again Graffiti Alley in Toronto ON. It was a delight being surrounded by all this colour.
This is also an HDR I take great effort not to over process my HDR's.

This is just one half of a divisible zipper, I rolled it up and I like how it looks now :)
This is about 1,5 inch wide.

These boats sit sheltered in Coles Bay. The conditions are cold as the sun is about to come over the hills behind. Mist rises gently from the water.

This is a succulent on my kitchen windowsill. You may just be able to make out a wire heart that is stuck in the pot...or maybe not!

The plane is a flying B-25 bomber which I turned into a silhouette and then dropped as a shadow.
I got the idea after observing the behavior of geese toward anything other than being chased on foot. The choice of plane stemmed purely out of a personal interest in vintage airplanes. All other birds and animals do react to the level of sound and/or looming, moving shadows from above.
This is part of an M&S tableware set called Autumn Leaves.
I started collecting it when I got married over 50 years ago and have added to it over the years, often as because it was going out of fashion, but it's timeless to me.
It's stoneware and very long lasting.
This is from April at Nisqually NWR. It's not a composite of two pictures (otherwise, it would be waaay better), it's just a weird thing that I was lucky to see happen.
It's hard to tell in this shot, but the bald eagle is chasing the peregrine falcon. It does give you a pretty good idea how much bigger eagles are than peregrine falcons.
I don't know who lives here, but somebody obviously does. You can tell by the new stove pipe and roof that this is someone's simple abode. I see a lot of these kind of places where I live. I'm glad that not everyone wants a cookie cutter stucco house in the suburbs. Still, I tend to be a slave to WiFi, so this place might not work out so well for me.

There is no beach anywhere near the place where I live but one can dream and so I sent one of the frogs on a beach holiday. The ball is a toy I borrowed from the cats for this photo and the little ship belongs to my nephew. The beach chair in the background is much smaller than the frog but I used the perspective and DoF to make it look bigger.
This is but a short drive from where I have moved to and it's truly lovely to have somewhere to go in winter to photograph wildlife. This pup was pretty close to the viewing path and had just fed.
Field trip gone wrong?
This old school bus is located on property at Land Between the Lakes (LBL) which is known as "Homer's Garage". It was formerly home of an auto repair shop owned by Homer Ray. He was one of the last residents to leave the area in 1969. While almost all of the land in LBL was cleared out during its transformation into a recreational area, this bus wasn't touched and still lies in the same spot to this day.
Unfortunately time hasn't been nice to this bus. Photos from 2017 showed this bus somewhat intact without major vandalism. However as this location became better known, vandals and other fun seeking youth have decided to visit.
(Fun fact, the bus was previously owned by Lyon County Schools - the same county where this bus still resides today).
