The classic tree lighting that may be one of the oldest still celebrated in the city! Madison Square Park was the site of a public Christmas tree in 1912, so 2021 will be the 109th year a tree has been displayed in the park!

A Public Space at the Heart of Our City
Madison Square Park is a six point two acre green space at the heart of New York City that has been public land since 1686. Over the centuries, it has played a part in the city’s rich history, providing space for everything from the invention of baseball to fundraising efforts for the Statue of Liberty.
Just like New York City, Madison Square Park is a place where many different people and things come together. Surrounded by landmark architecture and vibrant businesses, it is home to some of the world’s best art and horticulture exhibitions. It is a public garden, a playground, an open-air museum, a dog park, a performance venue, an eatery, an arboretum, a gathering place, and a sanctuary. It is a space that belongs to everyone, and that each of us can make our own.
The park is managed by Madison Square Park Conservancy, a non-profit that is fully funded by the community.

Madison Square is a public square formed by the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Broadway at 23rd Street in the New York City borough of Manhattan. The square was named for James Madison, fourth President of the United States. The focus of the square is Madison Square Park, a 6.2-acre (2.5-hectare) public park, which is bounded on the east by Madison Avenue (which starts at the park's southeast corner at 23rd Street); on the south by 23rd Street; on the north by 26th Street; and on the west by Fifth Avenue and Broadway as they cross.
The park and the square are at the northern (uptown) end of the Flatiron District neighborhood of Manhattan. The neighborhood to the north and west of the park is NoMad ("NOrth of MADison Square Park") and to the north and east is Rose Hill.

The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower (colloquially known as the Met Life Tower and also as the South Building), is a skyscraper occupying a full block in the Flatiron District of Manhattan in New York City. The building is composed of two sections: a 700-foot-tall tower at the northwest corner of the block, at Madison Avenue and 24th Street, and a shorter east wing occupying the remainder of the block bounded by Madison Avenue, Park Avenue South, 23rd Street, and 24th Street. The South Building, along with the North Building directly across 24th Street, comprises the Metropolitan Home Office Complex, which originally served as the headquarters of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (now publicly known as MetLife)

The Flatiron Building, originally the Fuller Building is a triangular 22-story, 285-foot-tall steel-framed landmarked building located at 175 Fifth Avenue in the eponymous Flatiron District neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan, New York City. Designed by Daniel Burnham and Frederick Dinkelberg, it was one of the tallest buildings in the city upon its 1902 completion, at 20 floors high,] and one of only two "skyscrapers" north of 14th Street – the other being the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower, one block east. The building sits on a triangular block formed by Fifth Avenue, Broadway, and East 22nd Street

Green Point is located about 15 minutes south of Forster, just one kilometre off the Lakesway.
Green Point is a dormitory suburb of Forster although many retired people live there also.
Green Point lives up to its name as it's truly a green point with most landowners having landscaped their properties perhaps to a greater degree than generally seen in Forster. The village is also surrounded by Booti Booti National Park with the road in to the village from the Lakesway abundantly lined with native flowering plants in spring.
Sagebrush covers vast tracts of land throughout the American Southwest. It has a not unpleasant faint and tangy scent.

There is no better relic of Greenwich Village’s café society than this lovely lair, filled with tiny marble-topped tables, iron-backed chairs, ornately carved wooden benches, gorgeous school of Caravaggio paintings, and other art pieces dating back to Renaissance Italy. Featured as a backdrop in classic New York movies like The Godfather and Serpico, the Village’s oldest coffeehouse (since 1927) has harbored bohemians for decades, most notably Beat Generation poets like Kerouac and Corso. The spot is also storied to have introduced cappuccino to New York when the original owner spent a then-ungodly $1,000 to import an espresso machine (the chrome-and-bronze beauty still on display) from Italy. While strong coffee drinks from macchiatos to hazelnut cappuccinos are what crowd the tables most, the café also serves satisfying crepes and omelettes, unremarkable pastas like penne in pesto, and serviceable sandwiches like warmed-over panini stuffed with good-quality mozzarella, pesto, and sweet red peppers. But the young bookworms, lovers, and nostalgic regulars prefer Italian pastries to go along with their joe, like the flaky sfogliatella, overstuffed with a mellow, creamy ricotta, the crispy cannolis dotted with chocolate chips, or fountain treats like banana splits generously topped with fresh whipped cream. Still, the careful coffeemaking and cursory menu items are beside the point: it’s the café’s lush, antique surroundings that draw devotees most. NY Magazine
I get my fav cappuccino in NY state & tomato soup, curl up in the corner of old-fashion Italian bench . . . And here I am somewhere between Beat Generation & Italy. God, I love this place! ❤️
The Traghetto is a two person operated Gondola that travels between two fixed points on the Grand Canal.
It's the most fun way to cross and more importantly only costs €2 (possibly the best value in the whole of Venice).
LoveShackFancy is by far the girliest and prettiest shop I have ever seen. King Street may be my new happy place.
Not quite the light at the end of a tunnel but here it was in the middle on the ceiling. Think the iPhone was slightly challenged in the dimly lit tunnel as the skin tones are not quite as I want them.

Easy to see why this beach was named Pearl Beach, as it is a gem of the inner Brisbane Water just north of Patonga the Hawksbury River estuary and northern Sydney's Pittwater..
I'm sure the 'First Australians' had a similar idyllic sounding name though as far as I know it has not survived following British occupation.
