Wild Heaven Craft Beers - Decatur, Georgia USA

Belgian Ale (ABV 8.5%)

[Best served in a Trappist glass]

Rating: 3.8/5.0

Aroma: 8/10

Appearance: 4/5

Taste: 8/10

Palate: 3/5

Overall: 15/20

The pour was a hazy burnt orange with an average sized (1-2 finger) white creamy head that hung on for a little while reducing to a few small puddles and a small ring of residue thus creating some excellent sticky streaks of lace.

The aroma was of a toasted biscuit malt, floral hops and a sweet moldy yeast with notes of citrus, pears, coriander, honey and a mild alcohol scent.

The taste was a fruity malty sweet with notes of citrus and honey from start to finish with notes of pears, green apple, a mild spiciness and a light alcohol tinge towards the end. The flavor lasted an average duration after the swallow with the sweet fruity alcohol taste lingering on well after everything else faded.

Mouthfeel was right in the middle of light and medium in body with a creamy dry texture and a mild carbonation.

Overall a well rounded brew that had a ton of flavor and a mild fruity alcohol presence. Simply put YUM…

Sampled: 3/1/2012

In an Andean ceremony in San Carlos, a ceremonial leader, wrapped in a red poncho, beats the bombo drum and chants an invocation to Pachamama. The drum’s colorful tassels punctuate the prayer as soft light sculpts the face and motions, while the softly blurred background hints at the gathered community.

INVOCATION (Pastor Cristobal Ledezma, House of God - Casa de Dios Ministries) AND PLEDGES OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE U.S. FLAG AND TEXAS FLAG (Charles Smith, VFW American Legion Post #4692)

- History Church of St Pierre d'Auxerre

- From the first centuries of Christianity, the lower part of the city had, like others, its church and monastery were placed under the invocation of St. Peter. Some authors have tried as Saint Peter's Church took over a pagan temple high in the old Autricus; others attribute the origin to Saint Pilgrim himself, but there is nothing to accept these traditions.

JPEG - 9.8 koSaint Pierre

- In Regulation saint Aunaire for public prayers (late sixth century) we find, for the first time, the mention of the Basilica of St. Peter, later called Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. Clerks there were officers by the bishops under the direction of a canon of the cathedral was the dean. They were responsible for the instruction of the Gallo-Roman people of this part of the old city that still remained.

- The irruption of the Saracens, in the middle of the eighth century, stopped the peaceful life of the clergy and destroyed the homes that, outside of the city, had escaped the invasion of Attila.

- After many vicissitudes, the Saint-Pierre, became a college of canons, was restored in 1107 by Bishop Humbaud who established the Canons Regular of the institution Yves de Chartres, of the order of church St Augustine, and began a dean at their head. In 1277 a major fire badly damaged the monastery

- 1470, Guy de Toucy transformed the Chapter as the abbey of Saint-Piere du Bourg to distinguish the church of Saint-Pierre-en-Castle which was in the precincts of the city (Labbe, man. I library., 458). This time reborn, to St. Peter, an era of prosperity endowments bishops and the regularity of its religious assured her church. In the fourteenth century the Hundred Years War the impoverished many, and never could recover from its importance.

- In 1567, the capture of the city by the Huguenots brought the plunder of the Saint-Père, and burning of the abbey home. Bands of soldiers, who were masters of the town, had set fire to the tower of the church recently built at the expense of the inhabitants of the parish. The roof was burnt and the bells melted, but the tower remained standing.

- The boundaries of the parish Holy Father and censive Abbey in the sixteenth century may give an idea of what remained of the Gallic city after the establishment of Christianity. To determine, simply draw a line Chantepinot door to St. Pancras Tower from the right side of the street Paul Bert, Nicolas Moor of Butchers and Sub-Walls. The river as a basis for the east and the city walls to the south. Leaving the city the way that leads to Preuilly beside the Fatet house, and all climates that are between the path and the river were also censive of the Holy Father (Sentence of the bailiwick of Auxerre were followed October 8, 1565. Fund of the Saint-Père). The parish of Saint Pilgrim, being a branch of the Holy Father, was encompassed within its boundaries.

- But it was not until the construction of the city walls that the parish Holy Father took an increase that was not stopped by the war and destruction that always followed. The monks acted, again, as we have already seen in other areas, they gave leases to perpetual annuities vacant land their vast parish in charge to establish homes (The Sentence of the Bailiwick 1565 reports "that this estoit formerly arable land, and gardens and some clozeaux bastimens we tenoit Abbey."). The fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, there are still traces of these operations (Archive 1'Yonne, Pope Fund).

- The Abbot of the Holy Father was primitive priest of the parish church, and he often had disputes with the parishioners. A monk tells these discussions with your bias and curious complaint. The altar of the parish was placed at the door of the choir since the organization of the parish in the twelfth century. But later time, the nave, which was very small, not enough, they wanted to invade the choir. - Resistance of the monks, trial and conviction of the parishioners. There were also quarrels without number, for the latter, about the use of bells, which are placed in the high tower in the middle of the choir, were not readily available to them. Also, at the beginning of the sixteenth century, they resolved to build a beautiful tower next to their church to place their own bells. The company, started in 1536, was completed in 1577.

Daphne Alderson, contralto

Daphne’s diverse, eclectic career as lyric contralto includes opera, oratorio, chamber music and cabaret throughout the United States, Canada and Italy. Ms. Alderson has performed with Pittsburgh Opera, Chatham Baroque, Central City Opera, Opera North, Opera Theatre of Pittsburgh and Amherst Early Opera. Her roles include Purcell's Sorceress, Hansel, Isabella, Nicklausse and Handelian and Scarlatti baroque opera roles. A champion of new works, she has premiered the music of John Marcinizyn, Michael Moricz, Enrique Ubieta and Douglas Levine. “Daphne’s voice gives me shivers…she’s really magical, and when she sings in French, you’ll want your sweetheart nearby,” quotes Ted Sohier (WQEDfm, Pittsburgh). . The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette calls her, “An artist of dignified passion,” (Handel’s MESSIAH) and “…beautifully rendered love songs.”

Squamish Nation Pow Wow 2011 FULL REGALIA Dance

www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcnA5nUNSE4

Squamish Nation Pow Wow 2011 GRAND ENTRY

www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiL5R3ac5D8&;

Native Indian bands from across BC and elsewhere congregated at the Squamish Nation Pow Wow 2011 held at the Capilano Indian Reserve in North Vancouver from July 08-10, 2011. They came to greet each other and celebrate their culture together at this annual event in their traditional territory of the Coast Salish land.

Aboriginal men and women in full regalia danced in the Grand Entry and participated in the Invocation. They also competed as individuals in different categories like in a sports event. The modern day Pow Wow is very much a family affair. The occasion presents an opportunity for the community to recognize the work and contribution of the native women. At the same time, the role that the younger ones can play is also very much part of the agenda.

Nowadays, many native youths live in urban areas away from the reserve and are increasingly alienated from the Land that the aboriginal society has such an affinity with. The Pow Wow therefore becomes an ideal place for the youngster to reconnect with their cultural being and way of life, thus preserving the native tradition that goes back thousands of years.

The Squamish Nation of BC is also part of the Four Host First Nations, a very important partner of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

The church, of which the invocation is unknown, stands at the northern end of the village, just beneath the main road, and at the north-west edge of the village green. It is built of flint and rubble, with stone dressings. It consists of a nave, the eastern end of which forms the chancel, a circular western tower, and a south porch. It had in addition a chancel, and short aisles on either side of the eastern part of the nave. These aisles are in the form of pre-Conquest portici, and as the nave is apparently of the pre-Conquest period, the vanished aisles may have been contemporary with it. The only visible connexion between aisles and nave, however, is by a single late12th-century arch, now blocked, in each of the side walls of the latter. The west tower is a 12th-century addition to the nave. There is no trace of any chancel arch, nor any remains above ground of either chancel or aisles. The foundations, however, were discovered during recent years, and their angles have been marked out with metal strips let into the turf.

The present east window is an early-14th-century one of three lights, and there are two two-light 15thcentury ones in the south wall of the church, the eastern angles of which are supported by heavy modern buttresses. Between the two windows noted above, is a tall, modern single-light window, having a modern buttress just to the east of it. The south door is 14thcentury, and is covered by a restored 16th-century porch. Just east of this is a 14th-century buttress, and a modern one supports the south-west angle of the nave. Just west of the porch is a small mid-12th-century window. In the north-east corner of the church may be seen the arch leading to the vanished north aisle, in the south wall of which are a piscina and a bracket to carry a beam, possibly a rood-beam. The filling of the arch has a small single-light 13th-century window in it. West of the arch is a small single-light window, blocked, with a semicircular head and raking jambs. Adjoining this window is a modern single-light window, and another has been cut through the filling of the ancient north door. In 1916 some medieval floor-tiles were uncovered outside this door, which suggests that it may at one time have had a timber porch. The circular tower is an addition to the nave and is very plain, being capped by a steep conical roof.

The interior of the east end of the church shows, on either side, the blocked arches leading to the vanished aisles. They are obtusely pointed, very plain, and spring from simple late-12th-century impost mouldings. The northern arch has in it the single-light window already mentioned. The southern arch has a two-light 15thcentury window, and this has replaced an elaborate window, apparently of the 13th century, the western jamb of which remains, with a hollow chamfer stopped at its foot with a stiff-leaf trefoil. The present chancel was formed in the 15th century by constructing an oak rood-screen and loft, the sawn-off ends of the beam of which remain. Some of the original colour may be seen on the eastern face of the north side of the screen-jambs. Practically the whole of the screen has been removed, and a modern timber arch inserted. A modern window fills the space once occupied by the entrance to the rood-loft. To the west of the screen, high up in the north wall, may be seen the wide reveal of the early window noted on the exterior of the church. It is remarkable in that it has no splay, and this fact, coupled with the rake of the external jambs, suggests that the window is pre-Conquest or very early Norman in date. High up in the north-east corner of the church is a small length of a very coarsely formed string-course or internal cornice, which seems almost certainly pre-Conquest. At the south-west corner of the nave may be seen the deeply splayed later Norman window.

There is a simple rectangular aumbry in the northeast corner of the church, and in the eastern reveal of the south door is a stoup formed from a Norman cubical capital, apparently once the head of a pillar piscina. The font is plain, probably later 12th century, and has been repaired. There is a good altar-rail of early-17thcentury character, and some of the old pews remain. These may be late-16th-century; some of them are carved with bands of ornament. There is a Georgian Royal Arms painted on a panel. The church is notable for its mural paintings, carefully restored in 1934–5. The line of the early string-course noted above has been carried along the north wall with an ornamented cheveron pattern. Below this is a series of scenes depicting the Life of Christ. These paintings are considered to date from the middle of the 13th century. The west wall has a Majesty above extensive subjects now indecipherable. These are believed to date from the end of the 13th century. Two painted consecration crosses may be seen on either side of the tower door.

In the chancel is the grave of Dr. Edward Boughen, a notable royalist divine, who died 9 November 1653.

The tower contains two medieval bells, one of which, considered to be late-13th-century, is inscribed with the name of the founder, John Aleyn.

The church possesses a communion cup having a preReformation foot, and a paten probably dating from about 1500 with an added foot marked for 1568.

The registers date from 1556.

A convenient water tap and bench in front of the church offers a good spot for South Downs Way walkers to take 5.

An aspirant obtains Invocation of the Heart from a designated spiritual minister of Messiah Foundation International (Edmonton, Alberta).

Vellattam or Vellattu is an invocative ritual held prior to the actual Theyyam performance. The Gulikan Vellattu is held for Gulikan Theyyam, a character which represents the Hindu God of death, Yama. Through Vellattu ritual, the mortal human being is transformed into the divine self. Equivalent to the Thottam (the invocatory chant) ritual, Vellattams are more vibrant and vigorous.
