Composition of Furillen has been opened.

The place is a concrete bunker made by Megan.

Since Furillen has a fixed landing point, there is no LM to that location.

You go there by walking or flying. Of course, a moonwalk is also recommended(by Mavi).

The inside of the building is narrow, and sometimes you hit an obstacle and falls. Please walk carefully.

Picture is illuminated, but it doesn't work until you get close. If you look at the camera from a distance, they will be very dark.

In order to enjoy this exhibition, it is recommended to walk around spending time and your effort.

I apologize that there was no opening party, no DJ, no dancing.

And a special invitation card too.

This is the Furillen way we think.

This is my exhibition, but it's not my exhibition.

That is the happiest thing for me.

I'm part of Furillen now.

I took this picture in 2008, for an invitation card and a brochure on the occasion of the opening of a factory building, in the planning of which I was involved. It shows the clothes hangers in the changing room, which you have to use before entering the production area.

saturday 20th june;

bad quality i know, but i didnt really have that much time today. this photo indicates as too why. prom. i bloody can't wait till its over and done with to be honest. all this stressing over one night? to make matters worse i still havn't got some skin coloured tights. i would go without but my shoes would make my ankles look like raw meat, and it doesn't exactly help when you have a cut on your ankle from shaving and your toe is hanging off (all on the same foot).

im at the doctors on tuesday at 08.20am though, so *fingers crossed*

Hi there ^^

My friend ask me if I could make a cover for her bachelorette party invitation card with my Kiana as model ^^ you must know she like her a lot ^^

I felt really honored when she ask me that, but I was also a bit nervous >__< I don’t share my Doll hobby with many people only my closest friends and family member know about my hobby. Because of bad experience I have had, I don’t tell everybody about my passion for Dolls any more. Sadly not everybody can understand how wonderful and great this hobby can be and how many wonderful people all around the world I’ve get to know thanks of my Dolls <3__< I hope they don’t ask me stupid question ….sometimes it can be very hard when you are a bit different^^ don't you think so too? XD

I wish you all an amazing rest of the week *huggies* I hope you are all doing well *_______*

This is an example of a Victorian-era acquaintance card, which was also referred to in the nineteenth century as a flirtation, escort, or invitation card.

The Encyclopedia of Ephemera (New York: Routledge, 2000), p 4, provides this definition: "A novelty variant of the American calling card of the 1870s and 1880s, the acquaintance card was used by the less formal male in approaches to the less formal female. Given also as an 'escort card' or 'invitation card,' the device commonly carried a brief message and a simple illustration.... Flirtatious and fun, the acquaintance card brought levity to what otherwise might have seemed a more formal proposal. A common means of introduction, it was never taken too seriously."

Here's CNN's take on acquaintance or escort cards: "So, may I see you home? In the late 19th century, Americans exchanged cheeky personalized cards to start a romance. Call them the ink-and-paper Tinder. Escort cards helped people find intimacy while breaking the strict conventions of social interaction."

That's the description of a video that appeared on CNN's Great Big Story today (February 12, 2016). The short piece (1:25) uses reproductions of my collection of acquaintance cards (see my complete set on Flickr or the ones I've posted on Ipernity so far) to present The 19th Century Tinder: Welcome to the Racy World of Escort Cards over on YouTube (don't miss my acknowledgement at the end of the video).

For those who may not be familiar with the sometimes naughty Tinder, Wikipedia calls it a "location-based dating and social discovery application (using Facebook) that facilitates communication between mutually interested users, allowing matched users to chat."

So, were acquaintance or escort cards--like the one above--the nineteenth-century equivalent of Tinder, as the video suggests? I don't really think that formally dressed Victorian men and women secretly gave each other cards in order to hook up like we see in the video. Although some of the cards may sound like cheesy pickup lines to modern ears, I think it's more likely that school kids and young adults used them to break the ice, get a laugh, or start a conversation rather than to arrange a tryst.

In reality, acquaintance cards provided a lighthearted and humorous way to parody the more formal exchange of calling cards that took place in Victorian times. Acquaintance cards were sold by the same companies that supplied calling cards, rewards of merit, and advertising trade cards, and they show up alongside these other printed items in the scrapbooks that were popular with women and children in the nineteenth century.

Back to the Yum Yum A La Mode card. Here's how it was advertised in the Argus and Patriot newspaper, Montpelier, Vermont, on September 18, 1878, p. 4. The following text appeared along with the "Yum Yum" illustration:

Boss. Red Hot.

If you want to smile all over your face for six months, just send for the Red Hot Flirtation Cards, 50 for 25 cts. Samples sent for 2 3-ct. stamps. Remember these cards are Red Hot Regular Tearers!! They cannot be beat. We stump everything of the kind. You will laugh till you cry if you send for them. P.O. stamps are better than silver to send in a letter, and are all the same to us. Write your orders plain. Address Marshall & Co., 35 Sudbury St., Boston, Mass.

So what do you think? Was this a "Red Hot Flirtation Card" that Victorians used as a paper-based Tinder?

This is the wedding card I designed for my friends, Dave & Rebecca's wedding in coming November, big congratz to them.

They are a lovely couple and my friends Dave, i called him "Dow" (the meaning of bean in chinese), and his fiancee loves baking, so it's their requirement including bean and cake in the card design.

This is the invitation card for my solo exhibition in Tinakilly Country House Hotel where I was invited to exhibit for the Wicklow Arts 2012 Festival. I was so excited to be asked and now seeing the invite makes it seem all the more real.

Right now I am in the process of choosing which images to print out for showing and making sure that they look ok when blown up larger than the 13 inch screen I use to create them.

One day when I'm rich and famous perhaps I can afford a larger monitor ;-)

To all of my flickr friends especially those of you from Ireland; please do come, its on 20th May, 3.00pm, Tinakilly House Hotel, Wicklow (The Garden County of Ireland)

Happy shooting everyone
